Looking to buy a dishwasher. Doesn't have to be fancy but MUST clean REALLY well and have a food disposal. Looking for input on brands/models. Thanks!

Do NOT get a Maytag - I absolutely HATE mine. It doesn't clean well and doesn't dry AT ALL. It takes 3-4 hours to run a heavy cycle - and they said it was because it is energy efficient - which makes NO sense to me at all. I had a repairman come right after I got mine and he said it was NORMAL for it not to dry - all the new ones are like that - which I can't imagine. I am anxious to see what others say on this subject. I have heard that Bosch dishwashers are awesome.

Thanks for the heads up! I was looking at a GE Profile. Had seen great reviews and then recently saw some not so good ones so don't want to get a crappy machine.

Bought a Maytag in November and love it. Dries the load great. Inside is huge and I can put big oversized cake pans, cutting boards or roasters pans in it. Super quiet too. Reviews said the rack weren't very good, but I haven't had a problem with them at all.

No dishwasher now will clean properly.  they took the phosphates put of the detergent.  For those struggling. Use Bubble Bandit.  or Cascade Professional Strength.  I have used both and I like Bubble Bandit better.  I bought. case of Cascade 14 months ago. gave 2 boxes away and I am on my last one.  It lasts a long time and works.  But I have switched to BB snd it gets my silverware cleaner.   both at amazon. dont blame your dishwasher. blame the people that got this nonsense done

I currently have the brand commonly known as Two Teenagers - 14 and 16 year old model. Doesn't work worth a crap. Completely unreliable. LOL I had a Whirlpool in past life and was very happy with it.

Kirkland brand works very well too.  We have so much magnesium in our water that we have to SCRAPE our toilets to clean them.  Hard does not describe it.  The Kirkland brand not only cleans well but the glasses don't get the hard water build up.

We have a GE Profile.  I don't think it matters much as long as you stay in the mid to high end products.  Read the reviews in Consumer Reports.  Get a rack system that works for you and the color you need and call it good.

I bought a borsch (sp) last fall and really like it.  lowes had a rebate on installation  and 15% offso was able to afford to get one of the top models.  All stainless and cleans well.  It's super, super quiet too and can't even hear it running

I have a Bosch that is almost a year old, no problems, it cleans well. We have really hard water and so far, it still gets the glasses sparkling clean! I have one of the mid-price models so I can wash short loads, half loads etc and a heavy scrubber cycle. I can time it to turn on in several hours so it run while we're asleep.

Yes, the same people that insist you save water by having to flush multiple times.  The whole "green energy" "climate change" idiot cabal.

We have a Samsung and it works well. The key is buying the Quantum Gel Packs to use instead of the powder dish washing detergent. Anything other than the expensive stuff leaves HORRIBLE residue....

I've had mine a little longer than you but same outcome, no problems. Whirlpool makes may tag nowadays so the quality has gone up. Kitchenaid is also made by whirlpool and I had one of those for years, no issues. Bosch and Samsung are good brands too, although the other racks won't fit into a Bosch, they're more narrow so won't hold quit as much. Had more returns from ge products than any other when I worked at lowes in the appliance dept.

Is the bubble bandit a cleaning packet?  I use cascade packs but don't think they are the professional.  They have the orange jel in with the powder.  Every now and then I might have a piece of silver ware that doesn't get clean, it is usually dry egg or something like that.  We bought ours from Sears and it has been great.  Only thing I would sugest is getting  the stainless steel inside.

The only place to buy is a resturant supply type store or amazon.  The gel packs dont work for our hard water.  I tried them all. Then did a little research and found out about Professional grade produets still had the phosphate in them.   So this year did a little more research and read a long review on bubble bandit.  So I tried their suggestion to put some in a spray bottle and spray down your showers and shower doors.  Yep took that hard water build up right off
