A friend referred me to Nettles Country and that's where I purchased mine. I also checked them out on EBAY and they were relatively the same price as NC so i used an established company in case I had problems. |

Location: Oklahoma | Once you ride in them for a little while, you'll never ride in another kind again. I could buy a $150 saddle off of Ebay and I'd put $150 Nettles stirrups on it. I can't make myself ride the rawhide or aluminum stirrups for anything. Yes, they are worth every penny. I've got a pair on every saddle I ride, even my colt saddle. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I have two sets of nettles Halfbreeds and love them. They give to the weight in the stirrups just a tiny bit so they are easier on your knee's if you have knee problems like I do on one knee. And they are lighter and dont leave markes on your boots like the Alum. stirrups. And I just like the way they look too. |

Of course, if I like them as much as ya'll say I will, that means I will OF COURSE have to buy a 2nd pair for my other saddle! Lol And I do have knee pain so maybe I can convince Hubby theyre for "medical reasons" haha! |

Location: NW MT | There are several different models of stirrups that Nettles makes, and some of them are not like ANY other brand I've seen. The "Premier" line is made from 6 layers of wood - so I think that is why they are so comfortable - they have a "give" that you don't find in other brands. You can get them in several widths so you can find what fits best for you. They have their Offsets & Slanted ones also. They do have an Economy Line - those are only 4 layers of wood & they are the ones you see Coolhorse, Ebay, etc selling pretty cheaply for a new pr. I too am a "Nettles snob" - won't use any other kind of stirrups. I love the feel & balance of them - I don't lose stirrups anymore at all either; they are gorgeous; they don't break my shins when I am carrying my saddle; and I don't have that nasty aluminum stain on all my jeans & boots. For the money I feel they are well worth it. (they are made in the USA too!!) Even if I were not a dealer for them, they would still be the ONLY stirrups I'd own.
And I forgot to add the original reason I tried them - they DO help my knees/hips! I had the Walls Slanted stirrups & I always felt like my foot could get caught in them & they didn't help my knees much either. LOVE my Nettles

My sister has RA and these are the only stirrups she can ride in where after 20 minutes of riding, she can keep her feet in the stirrups. She has tried every other kind of slanted, twisted stirrup out there and when I told her she needed to try these she told me no way as she was going to add another pair of stirrups to her collection. I bought her a pair for her birthday and they are all she will ride in now. She is amazed that she can ride for ever how long with her feet in her stirrups without pain.
I will never ride in another stirrup.

Location: IL | I bought the slanted Walls with the hope that they would help me while riding. I was born with a twist in my right femur which causes my whole right leg to twist outward and my right leg is slightly longer than my left. It's not really obvious to other people but it bothers me when I ride for any length of time. My knee gets really sore and the outside of my right foot goes numb and starts to "burn" after awhile.
RockyRoad, do you have a specific line of the Nettles you would recommend to me? Any style or width that might work better for my issue? |

If you want them for other things than barrels, then the Offsets or Slanted. I don't think you'll go wrong on any of their styles but I think the Halfbreeds give your foot better room & support, like NTO said too. |

| Well, I put off getting some because of the price. Finally I asked for some and got them for Christmas. Just this week, I put them on my saddle and rode (hard) for about 1.5 hours - I could not BELIEVE the difference the next day in my knee! Usually the day after, my knee swells up huge and feels like bone on bone - this time - NO pain! I have no idea WHY they help but here is my testimony! I will have them on every saddle from now on! |

Thanks for the advice! I'll probably go with the halfbreeds then as I mostly barrel race. We do trail ride occasionally but not too often. One other question, my one saddle is a Deb Sibley so the area where the stirrup hangs from the fender is much more narrow than on a regular saddle. Are they able to adjust the size of the stirrup to accommodate that? Just curious, if it's not possible it's no big deal :) |
