Location: Colorado plains standing on a goat head! | We are headed to the circuit finals next week and would like recommendations for a nice place to eat for a special occasion. OKC or north if there is something real nice. Also, any good touristy spots other than the cowboy museum? I heard the stockyard disctrict was nice. We will have a couple of non horsey people with us! Thank you in advance! |

Location: Oklahoma | The stockyards is a very nice place for shopping! Most of it is western themed, but it's not all tack and supples. Some nice places with clothes and accessories for the ladies if they are western type people. Cattlemen's is a nice place to eat, but I'm not going to call it upscale. How upscale are you wanting? If you don't mind making the drive to Stillwater (probably take you 45-1:15 drive depending on where you are in OKC/Edmond area) The Rancher's Club at OSU is pretty fantastic.
I suggest Gabriella's if you like Italian. Their family (which is in my neck of the woods) is amazing and can really serve you some excellent Italian. I haven't tried the one in OKC, but I am a BIG fan of the one in South Padre Island.
I love the Cowboy Museum. You can just go for hours! |

| Go to Bricktown. The non-horse people might enjoy that. Not much left in the stockyards. The melting pot is a good place to eat in Bricktown. Mickey Mantels Steak House, The Mantel Wine Bar and Bistro, lots more in Bricktown. Guthrie is a neat little town if you go down town to all the old buildings, lots of antique shops. |

Location: Jones, OK | In Bricktown you have
Kevin Durant's new restaurant is open now, if you are wanting black tie upscale try out Mickey Mantles, Jazmos Bourbon St (Cajun food)
Then in Guthrie itself
there is a great italian place in Guthrie called Roma's, also Stables in Guthrie is good...Roma's and Stables are both decently priced and have good food, or Gage's (www.gagessteakhouse.com) very good steaks! |

Roma's is very good, They make most of their own sauces! I am personally not a fan of Stables, |

| The Red Rock Canyon grille out on the Hefner Pkwy is good. Sometimes bricktown gets pretty crowded. The Mantel is good and fairly intimate. I love the Pork Chops at Bourbon Street. Cattlemen's is still really good but, more like a cafe. I grew up here and agree the Stockyards ain't what they used to be! You could go to the Petroleum Club...

Location: On the back of a horse | When I saw the title of your post I immediately thought of Mickie Mantle's. It is pricey, and others are correct there are a lot of other nice places to eat in Bricktown. My favorite is Crabtown but I am from Washington State and miss my seafood. LOL |

| The OKC Memorial of the Murray Building bombing is a must see as far as I'm concerned. The Omniplex Museum/Kirkpatrick Center next to Remington Park is a very interesting place if you're into science. The OKC zoo is right next to the Omniplex. Bricktown is full of restaurants-not a lot of shopping with the exception of the Bass Pro Shop. You can walk from Bass Pro to the area along Bricktown Canal that has the sculptures of early Oklahoma scenes-covered wagons, outriders, etc-and they're one and a half times life size-very impressive. Look for the jackrabbit statue hiding in the tall grass. |

Location: Buffalo, TX | Cattleman's food is awesome....you will pay 3x as much at Mickey Mantle's for the same quality in an upscale setting....take your shoppers to the western decor stores along Reno, between the fairgrounds and Meridian in OKC...go to World Imports, Lorec Ranch, and Santa Fe, they are all in the same block area on the north side of Reno...then go west a block on Reno and you are at Tener's western store, and then go south on Meridian under I-40 and Sheplers is a block down on the east side..... |

Location: Colorado plains standing on a goat head! | Thank you so much for all the suggestions. I guess my version of upscale is great food, exceptional service and I can still wear jeans (no ties). We will check it all out, this information helps so much!
It should be a special trip, the circuit finals will be a gas!
Thanks again!

Location: Okla | If the weather is warm you really need to take the canal ride in Bricktown. Along the canal are some really neat bronze scultpures depicting the Oklahoma Land Run, plus you go by a lot of the Bricktown eateries, apt dwellings and loft dwelling that have made Bricktown a popular home for a lot of the 'yuppies' |

True! That place packed full of all his memorabilia... you should go walk through there for sure just to see the decor. |
