does it seem to take to find "the one"? (I'm not talking about prospects that haven't even been under saddle or finished 1D/pro caliber horses, just the ones in between)  When I was in school (parents made all the contact) and I remember spending my spring break and the rest of my spring semester of school on the weekends driving around and trying out horses and just didn't find anything that fit.  I let off in the summer to do summer camps and one weekend I tried out a horse my parents had found and he ended up being "the one" when I least expected it.  But now I'm doing this 100% on my own and no other eyes and ears and I'm not seeming to have an abundance to choose from.

I have been browsing the web for a few months now and just this week I have been able to start making contact on horses and so far they've all been sold (either their ad wasn't updated, it JUST happened or their ad was updated and was literally just a matter of 24-48 hours from when they were listed til when they sold) or something that just wasn't as it was listed and I'm not interested.

I'm glad I'm finally in a position where when something nice comes up I can call about it and hopefully set up something, but I'm starting to think unless I can hop in my truck and leave immediately I'm gonna miss out!

Is this the normal?  I know that I'm only on my first week, but it's kinda depressing!

For me, it starts the way you're describing, but the more I shop and the more impatient I get, the less time it takes to find that gem. Pretty much, after about the 3rd horse, I'm sitting there with my debit card, ready to buy sight unseen......jk, jk.....

Seriously, just come to my house, if you can't find what you're looking for in my pasture, you just don't want a horse bad enough lol.

In all honesty I've never looked.  They've all just popped up and I bought them.

I never find 'the one' when I'm actively shopping. Seems like something always happens on my end (I get into a rush and buy something just to be buying) or that I can't seem to find specifically what I want.

I found my last two from board buddies on here, I wasn't even shopping. Everything just seemed to be a perfect timing for both of my mares. It worked out best too because they are probably the best horses I've owned in a long, long time.

That's what I'm worried about!  I'm a very, very impatient person to begin with.  In the past when I was searching I always had a horse to run while I wait.  This time I'm starting fresh and have nothing as a backup while I wait.

I'm not in an unpopulated horse area by any means... I think that might hinder me!  So much competition and that means competition buying as well.

I have one regular leg and one super duper titanium reinforced bionic leg...I look like a 3legged giraffe when I run.  Not quite a one-legged chick in a butt kicking contest, but the next best thing to it.

We are in the same boat.  We are looking for a step up youth horse and its rediculious!  We stumbled across one yesterday that they had not even listed yet, and we are going to try it again tonight but still not sure if its "the one" yet.  Really liked her last night so we will see.  Its crazy what people will tell you though!
