| Where are you getting it from? I have two feed stores close to me and neither one can seem to get any in. Has anyone else had this trouble? I am just wanting plain milled flaxseed not a supplement with other ingredients preferably a 55 pound bag. Thank you! |

Location: Oklahoma | I get it from my local feed mill. However, if you need it for just one horse you may want to try a natural food store to se if they can get it in bulk for a reasonable price. |

| Just for fun I just went on Google to look for honest to goodness bulk flax seed. I came up with a site where you can order a 55 pound drum of the stuf - and it's still 3.67 per pound. Granted it's organic, but I didn't find any less than $3.00 per pound. That's expensive as a human supplement, let alone for horses! |

Milled is harder to find and more expensive as it has to be done such a way as it looses nutrients as soon as the shell is cracked and goes rancid easily.
Whole flax seed feed stores should be able to bring it in and farm seed stores. |

Isn't it cianide that it starts to produce once the shell is cracked, usless they use a certain process? |

This is what I feed. I couldnt get the plain flax seed when I moved here either like I was used to buying. The Triple Crown Omega is pure flax seed with nothing else added. It's just already ground for you instead of the whole seeds and it is stabalized. |

Do you feed it whole or grind it yourself? |

Location: Willows, CA | If you don't buy stabilized ground flax, you should grind it daily. It does go rancid very quickly and that consumes the antioxidant vitamins. If you go this way, it is worth the time to grind, as the whole seeds are very hard to digest. A significant amount of the value is lost in whole seed flax just because some of it passes through without being broken down due to the hard outer shell. |
