The Blue Bonnets are our state flower, We really call them The Texas Blue Bonnets, and they love the sandy type soil, what kind of soil do you have Sterling if its kinda of sandy you might be able to grow some, next time I go into town I will see if I can find some seeds to send you. Are I will what untill these seed out and sent some of mine to ya. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Thanks guys I was hoping for rain so that we would have a good spring this year, I didnt think that we had enough rain this year for the spring flowers but I was a bit wrong. I just dont know how you guys up north do it having a long winter, all I can say is that ya'll are a really tough bunch. Just hope that we get rain during the summer months when we really need it. Thanks for the complements |

You plant blue bonnet seeds in AUGUST ... under no more than 1/4 inch of dirt or just throw them out where you want a spot to grow and expand you a larger patch year after year |

Thats good to know if I want to seed out somewhere else, these Blue Bonnets are wild and come up on there own, my front and back pastures are covered in them and the Indian Paint brushes. I just let the plants seed out on their own. Once the heat gets here and the Blue Bonnets are all finished with their seeding then the work starts with all the shredding and getting my pastures in shape. I start late because of the Blue Bonnets, I love seeing all the different colors out here.

We had 5 turkeys come in at the back of our place and they then went to my neighbors. Never saw them right around us before.

We are keeping our sea of color well hidden under a layer of white stuff commonly refered to as snow. We were exploring frozen waterfalls and 5 foot drifts today. I'm jealous of the color and pretty flowers. |
