| I had to say good bye to my best friend of 14yrs my blue heeler Mattie. My shadow, she never let me get out of her sight. On Thursday early morning, I noticed she was a little needy, by 8am I say blood in her pee. Took her to the vet, after ultrasound, x-ray we thought infection and stones. Got her on meds, and brought her home. She continued to bleed and be restless.... She was IMo bleeding to much, and a real dull look in her eye, so off to the vet at 8am. We ran blood, and another ultrasound of her bladder. In less than 24hrs she only had use of 10%of her bladder, anemic, septic, blood work was all out of wack, the vet said he was shocked that she was still alive with the blood work. Defendant cancer, and 0% chance of living. So I made one of the hardest deacions in my life. The vet gave her a sedative, and left the room, was gonna wait 10min for it to kick in, then come back in. She was laying in my arms, and I was telling her she was a good girl and how much she meant to me. And that she was my rock thur out the yrs. Then all of a sudden she looked at me, her eyes got wide, and she started screaming bloody murder, she was in unbelievable pain. The look she was giving, was like ''mom please just help me''. I will never forget it, I'm traumatized by it. The vet rushed it and put her down.
I'm really having a hard time with this, some people think, it's just a dog. Go get another. But Mattie was a big part of me, she was family. Been emotional all weekend, only leaving my room to go feed horses. Haven't ate sense Thursday......  |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | I'm so sorry it had to go the route that it did. I can't imagine the terror you must have felt. At the very least, you were there to comfort her. You very obviously made the right decision by her. Prayers of peace and comfort for you. I wouldn't wish the loss of a loved one, pet or human, on anyone. |

Location: In a happy place | I am so sorry you lost your Mattie baby. My heart goes out to you. I went through this in November and there isn't a day I don't cry and my little rat terrorist. I don't think I can ever be happy again. You cry, scream, sleep and whatever you need to do to deal with your loss of family. Prayers and hugs to you from me.

I have been in your shoes as well.....and it is so hard to let them go....

| Prayers for your loss ... they really do become part of the family that will never be fully replaced. Take joy in remembering the good times and know that you did right by her. Take your time to grieve and you'll heal in time.
