EEK!!! Let me point out that my boyfriend is pretty brand new to the horse industry. We haven't been hauling much the last 2/3 years to even think of upgrading from my 2 horse bp.

We were at our first (of many) races of the year and they had a trailer dealer with nifty LQ trailers and my SO had stars in his eyes! He was asking if I would want one and if it would work for my horses! He was basically ready to sign a check then and there if I could of gotten the thing home!! LOL I had to get excited and share my excitement to my BHW ladies :):):):)

I got my husband on board upgrading our trailer last summer by promising to take it camping.  We've been on one trip already and are taking it to the beach for a week this summer.

Same here- he decided we can go camping with it. Question about camping with it- did ya'll stay at campgrounds/RV parks and if so did you have any trouble with management since it is a Horse trailer???

There is no problem staying at campgrounds in your LQ, unless you take horses and it isnt a "horse" camp grounds lol. The other good thing is if you have a collapsable rear tack and the center bar of that rear tack comes out as well, you have plenty of space to take 4 wheelers or even a small engine little boat or row boat or whatever. They really are multi finctional!

My husband is the same way about wanting an LQ.  Even my non-rodeoing son is on board.  He thinks it would be a lot more fun to hang out in an LQ during his sister's all day rodeos.

We did stay at a campground.  Nope, no problem. We just made sure the size of the space would accommodate the trailer--they should ask when you make reservations.

Lol, my SO keeps telling me to let him know when I'm ready to upgrade to a LQ GN so he can look for a new truck to pull it with as we both have half tons now...

We poked around in a few at the Iowa Horse Fair last weekend. Told him I needed to buy a prospect and start hauling more first to really outgrow my 2H BP, but he could buy the truck whenever - you know, get the horse before the cart.

what do you all use to pull yours?? I have to get a new truck with 4wd anyway... I'd prefer to get something that will be able to handle a decent sized LQ with a few horses in the back end!

We have a Dodge 2500 crew cab Cummins Turbo Diesel. It has pulled our three horse LQ without any issues. Had a Chevy 3/4 ton crew cab non diesel that could not pull our old three horse without living quarters very well at all. I have always had one ton dually crew cabs when I used to haul full time rodeoing but since I don't go that far or that much anymore figured this will work fine. So far it has.

My old trailer weighed about 7500 empty and I pulled it with a 3/4 ton diesel. My new trailer is closer to 11,000 and the 3/4 was overloaded on the rear axle when I weighed it, and a 1ton SRW would have been borderline. So I upgraded to a Dually. The stability from the Dually is nice.

Idk how much mine ways, but it is a 4H LQ, about 40 feet long. I pull it with an 08 F250, and it has no issues. The tow haul mode doesn't even work. Lol it sags a little bit and probably could use some air bags but we can go for miles with no issues!

I think a lot of non horse people are really realizing how versatile LQ trailers are for more than just hauling horses. I know men who work out at camp or bush jobs and they keep their tools locked up out of sight and safe in the back and live in the front. Hunters who can keep their 4 wheelers and hunting gear, and meat in the back...

I've been trying for YEARS even using the camping/hunting argument and still a no go....maybe 1 day.
