Location: Arizona | Ok, I am/was thinking about breeding our TB mare next spring and came upon this little colt for sale. His sire and dam have great conformation and he's a gorgeous little buckskin. However, I'm not a pedigree expert when it comes to TB's although I do like his sire's side. Any opinions on this guy's future in the barrel pen?

Without seeing the colt or his parents in person, off pedigree I always wonder what they look like. You are taking 2 extremes (usually) and crossing them. Will you end up with tall and lanky/long muscled or smaller and more compact? I don't mean thick either because the cutting horses of today lack thickness to give them the agility to cut cows in a small pen.
if you like the colt, he sounds like a nice one. I personally like his TB dam's breeding and for cutting blood, I see alot of those lines that I have enjoyed riding. |

if you like the colt, he sounds like a nice one. I personally like his TB dam's breeding and for cutting blood, I see alot of those lines that I have enjoyed riding.
Thanks for the input. I can PM you pictures of his sire and dam. His sire is quite stocky and has a nice build his dam is lighter muscled and leaner 16.1 HH but well put together. She looks like she has been a broodmare for a while. Let me know what you think. |

The baby is too young to really see much. He's not filled out yet, so has that gangly boney thing going. Going off babies hip and over all look, I bet he takes after mama a little more, but he is cute and if correct and what you like, go for it |

The baby is too young to really see much. He's not filled out yet, so has that gangly boney thing going. Going off babies hip and over all look, I bet he takes after mama a little more, but he is cute and if correct and what you like, go for it
Thank you for your opinion. Yes, the sire is pretty well balanced IMO and certainly flashy. I'm not a huge fan of TB's in general but I do like her build overall and she has a pretty head/kind eye. It's so hard to tell with him being so young but I really like his color and face markings lol. I would need to go see him in person, or get better photos before I made a decision. I do prefer leaner/lighter horses in general. I find when they are thicker they don't move as well and aren't as light on the front end. We will see anyway. I appreciate your input |

I bet he's just what you like then :) He does have a beautiful color and give him a week and he will really fill out more. He has that first few days look to him. |

Location: So. California | If you breed a TB mare with an Appendix stallion, the foal cannot be registered with TB or AQHA. If you are thinking about breeding to the colt's sire, the resulting foal will be registered as an Appendix AQHA. |
