Location: Peach State | Got the "congrats you qualified slots for nbha world" in the mail and it's just got me thinking that it doesn't even seem like it's really worth it anymore after you spend all the money in fees, stalls and hookups. I really love running at world (even if it's really just for a title) just seems like now a days there are so many awesome super shows being held with much more added money and prizes.
Please note I'm not trying to bash the NBHA in any way just wondering if anyone else feels the same. |

YES oh my gosh that drives me nuts. I dont use the stall and im forced to buy one which really grinds my gears. Luckily ive been able to sell my stall for the last 3 years. I recouped some of the money back. But I agree, I think the pay out sucks for the fees you pay. I would absolutely not enter if it wasnt out my back door. |

| I am all excited about it because it's my first year of qualifying...but at the same time I am dismayed. I live in California. I may as well try my hand at making it to the NFR, it would almost cost the same. But I am still excited and proud of myself for making it since I've only been barrel racing for a year. |

Same here. I'm 2 1/2hrs away, but that's not far at all. Chaps my butt that the fees are so ridiculous and one year I didn't go, but it's kind of tradition with my mom and me to go.
But no, it's definitely NOT worth the money, esp. if you don't place in the top of a division. |

| I am 10 hours away.. i went one time.. it was well worth the experience of going one time but it is just so darn expensive i can hit several big shows in my area in exchange for going to the world!! So i completely agree with you! not worth the money... |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | I imagine this year it will also be a 5-D format in all divisions. I have 3 slots where I can go if I want. I only have to drive an hour. The fees are too high and outside of meeting some people on here that I enjoy, it really doesn't seem worth it to me. |

Location: Friendswood, Texas | My daughter just got her Youth World invitation yesterday. We were shocked to say the least because we only attended three shows last year and it's not like we won them either. I won't bash the NBHA because my daughter has some really good memories of her years in the association and the "concerns" I have, I took straight to their headquarters two years ago. I'm just saying even my 13 year old realizes the numbers are decreasing if she qualified TWO slots from 3 shows. |

Congratulations on qualifying. It is a shame you are so far away and it is so expensive because it is great experience to have at least once. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have never been to an NBHA World Show (I think I qualified once, but never even considered going because I always fall into the cracks), but I did keep my NBHA membership for a few years just to get BHN and to be able to run at the Drysdales Super Show at Tulsa. I loved that show and going to Tulsa in the start of the summer with friends was always a blast for my mom and I. That was before the BBR really took off and became the #1 organization (certainly just my opinion) to run in for my area. I don't see NBHA shows with the added money like I do BBR around here. I have never mapped just how far it is from Perry to my house, but I know that OKC is only three hours away and I can drive that and navigate OKC all by myself (if I was going to Perry I'd have to have someone travel with me). Just the drive alone and lack of closer super shows will keep me from renewing my membership, much less all the costs associated with it. |

Location: God's Country | We make the trip every year - it is the only vacation we take. Yes, the fees are high. But just like any other big race, you only come out ahead if you win a check or two . We go because we love to barrel race, love to see our once-a year-friends and make new friends. I always say everyone should try to make it to one of the "world shows" from a major organization at least once on their barrel-racing career. |

Hence where they get a lot of their money............stalls.........same thing we use the same stalls over the Labor Day weekend........$55.00 for 3 days........uh hello.......we keep going and paying........but that seems to be the norm now for stalls......it is almost a given they will be $80.00 to $99.00 for 3 days now..........hmmmm........ |

| I agree with certain barrel racing getting too expensive with all of the add ons. I remember when stall were $10 for the weekend and included a bail of shavings. Now its $40 for the weekend and no shavings. The office fees drive me nuts. I dont think its fair to pay $40 per weekend in office fees. I understand the individuals putting on the race like to get paid but its getting out of control. |

Location: Sebeka, MN | 10 years ago NBHA was the only show in town up here--MN--and though the world show was far away, we made the trip several times because a big show is just so awesome. Since then a lot of other organizations have started up, arenas have been built and we stay closer to home. We have kept our NBHA memberships, though. it is a good time and you see some awesome riders. A good experience! |

Yep! I don't even run NBHA anymore. There's so many more options in Texas. I opted to by my pro card again and am going to try my luck at the rodeos with my new one.. we will see how that goes.. |
