Spinoff on the breeding post but I'm curious as to who is the best lameness vet around.  I have a gelding that is off and on again off just enough I don't feel comfortable running him.  I have taken him to quite a few vets that can't seem to figure it out and I'm about to give up and retire him completely but I would like to give it one last shot.

If you are willing to make the 2 1/2 hour trip to Vinita OK, Dr Marcotte is the best lameness vet around. I've seen him fix horses that other vets said couldnt be fixed.

Dr. Quinley Koch of Elite Equine Vet Services. 316-293-6273. She did internships in Lexington, Kentucky at Haygard Davidson McGee working on racehorses and in Oklahoma with Interstate Equine working on western performance horses. So she has a great background in lameness. She's also board certified in chiropractic.

I have never tried Quinley but know of her and here great things!!  I use Andy Hawkins and he has not been wrong yet.  He is young and freshly started in his own practice.  He has diagnosed stuff and owners have gotten other opinions after him and he has never been wrong yet.  He is very quiet around the horses, is easy to understand and follow, and he is not over priced.  He is very cautious but not afraid to make a call on something.  I don't think you could go wrong with either of these vets!

And I have used Marcotte and he is great too.  Only reason I don't go to him as much any more is he is 3 hours away and Andy is 1 mile away...

Paul Ryding (Wichita) walked us through a horrible injury to my husband's little heel horse several years ago.  This horse came back almost 100 percent.  Paul was amazing.

Dr. Quinley Koch. If it weren't for Quinley my mare would be a broodmare by now. I highly recommend her!! I feel very comfortable around her and not so intimidated to ask questions like I have with other vets in the past. She takes time to talk to you and try to figure out the problem.

Thanks guys!  I may give Dr. Koch a call then, I've tried Dr. Brooks a few times and he hasn't gotten anywhere with him.  I went down to Dr. White in Sallisaw and was less than impressed.  He's not dead lame just a little off, something doesn't seem quite right and I'm just not comfortable pushing him but I'm not ready to give up just yet.

Dr. Marcotte is great, but if he is that subtle lame.. I would suggest going somewhere that has a lameness locator.  I know Oakridge Equine in Edmond, OK has one as does Dr. Propp in Pryor, OK.  Not sure about surrounding states.

I have used Hawkins and he isn't afraid to be honest. but from the searching I have done if your looking for BIG intervention. Ill see you in Oklahoma.....I wish we had a big O lameness/ rehab center here with MRI n exedra :( they would be the only one.
