| I feed them all a flake of alfalfa and a flake of coastal morning and night. (plus grain) They are out in the pasture except for breakfast and dinner. All three are starting to leave behind their coastal... sometimes they come back for it later sometimes they don't. They gobble up the alfalfa, and their eating Renew Gold... what would you cut back on? In my opinion I think they've stuffed themselves. BUT, we all know coastal is cheaper than alfalfa. I have a buttload of coastal in my barn right now and not so much alfalfa. What would yall feed? 2 alf/2 coastal (per day); 1 alf/2coastal.... They all look wonderful but I'm clearly feeding too much and need to cut something back i just want to make an economical choice here.  |

Maybe I'm crazy but I like to have my horses leave food behind...that way i know for sure they have full tummies! Not so much their grain or supplements but they hay is ok with me. But it seems like my horses are hard to keep weight on. They are all really running bred and still pretty young so they are still growing. But like I said I know that they have had all they really want. Also, this time of the year I notice that my horses don't want as much hay as they are getting the first green grass of the year. |

| I would feed 1flake alfalfa in the morning and 1 flake coastal. Then just one flake coastal at night. And I wouldn't give them any more till the finish. My mare is on Renew Gold /oats. Sometimes she will leave some Timothy , I don't feed anymore till she cleans it up. |

I completely agree with this. I'm fine with my three leaving some hay behind. Now, if they haven't touched the hay then that's an issue but if its just some scramps or minimal amounts I'm perfectly fine with that.
I feed 2 flakes(more or less depending on time of year) morning and evening along with grain and they have free choice pasture or round bale depending on the time of year and some days they leave some hay and some days they don't. I wouldn't be too worried. |

The spring grass is coming up and my horses could care less about hay. Actually, we stopped putting out hay about 2 weeks ago. You got some good advice above and I would not worry about it.

| Thank yall! They have never done this any other spring before. We don't really have the greatest pasture grass but its definitely there. Thanks for the help! |

Location: ohio-in my own little world with pretty ponies :) | I would cut back to 1 alfalfa a day! Also, if they don't finish it stays until they do and they don't get any more until it's gone. |
