| Looking at Ichon to use instead of Adequan (MUCH CHEAPER) but I don't know anyone that's used it. All responses appreciated :) |

| My vet had me use Ichon when she could no longer get Adequan and my gelding with mild arthritis stayed sound on Adequan (monthly injection) and was sound maybe two weeks on Ichon. There is no replacing Adequan! |

Location: Missouri | I used it on a horse as maintenance and was happy with the results. I have not used adequan on that particular horse though. I have since switched to iv glucosamine and polyglycan. |

Location: Missouri | My vet had me use ichon on my 8 year old mare due to collapsed hock and severe arthritis and it definitely dosent replace adequan. She felt no different on it and was still stiff and I just started her on adequan and she feels great and knock on wood staying sound and moving awesome! I definitely won't use ichon again was a waste of money and I'd rather spend more on something that is proven to work!!! |

Location: Oklahoma | I tried. It didn't work. It also isn't cheaper because you have to give more or more often....I don't remember which....anyway, it all works out about the same. Plus, Ichon isn't labeled for IM use...Only intra articular (which means in the joint), so it doesn't have the agent that causes the glucosamine to travel from the injection site to the joint, which is why Adequan costs so much. It's the delivery agent that's expensive, not the glucosamine. But it doesn't do much good if it doesn't go to the joint. :) |

| I had a friend that tried it and there is not even the slightest comparison to adequin.
I use Pentosan and in my opinion it is far superior to adequin. And it's the only product proven to actually help rebuild damaged tissues in the joints. I've seen amazing results with it in my horses. It's actually cheaper and it doesn't have to be given every two weeks or even once a month for it to work. It's given in 4 IM injections over a month period and then you can do it basically as often as your horse needs or you can afford in a 6 month period. I just did the loading dose with my mare the first year I used it and I was still seeing the results after months. I would seriously suggest checking it out.

| Thanks for all the feedback. I can get Ichon for $6 per 5 mL shot...so that's why I'm considering LOL.See 1 of the vets I use doesn't care for Pentosan AT ALL. ????? |

| Hm I wonder why? I mean My old mare was barely able to lift her back leg up more than a foot (and that's even pushing it) due to her stifles- the farrier had to kneel on the ground to do her back feet it was that bad. After we did the 4 injections, I went to pick her foot up to clean it and she lifted it up and stretched it all the way back. The only side affect, I've read about it is that it can affect clotting time. However, I've never heard of anyone having a problem. I guess the only bad really bad situation would be if your horse colics and has to go into surgery shortly after an injection. Everyone has an opinion and there are some people that have bad experiences with every product. But there are also the people that aren't the one that found it or started using it first so obviously it's no good. (Not saying that about your vet but there's a lady I know that went on and on about how bad Pentosan is and the oh the side effects are bad and this and that when she's never used it and I doubt she's even talked to someone who does because there are very few people up where I live that have started using it yet)
