| So apparently my sunblock is old. I mean it's only 2 years old and has been living in my trailer and probably went bad a long time ago. Shouldn't this stuff last forever ??!!! (My mom says no and gave me the good mother talk about taking care of my skin)
So, after 4 hours of working the 3 yo at the local state park (which was AWESOME by the way) ... I am now sporting a sweet sweet sunburn. Any helpful remedies for easing the redness, heat, tender stuff, and pain?
I took some Ibuprofen and a shower followed by lotion and aloe. It is holding ok for now ... |

| Would take several showers that are not hot and get them as cool as you can stand. Take some nsaid. Ibuprophen 800 mg is,a prescription dose you could use some, baking soda then get in shower. Hadnot had a sunburn for a long time.

Interesting! I have never heard of using baking soda ... just dump it on and then get in the shower? Or do you make a paste and then apply ... hmmmm ....

| I believe the mexicans will tell you vinegar. |

| I'm not Mexican-but apple cider vinegar works the best! pulls all the soreness out plus helps it not to blister. Smells awful, but it works... |

Location: Red Raiderland | Ocean's Potion. I'm pretty sure you can get it at Walmart/Walgreens. It is a blue gel that has aloe vera, LIDOCAINE(takes to sting/fire out) and tea tree oil extract. Love this stuff. I feel for you as I stayed out way too long today riding in working outside. Ouch! |

Location: Texas | Apple cider vinegar. Get in the shower pour it over the sunburn. It might sting a bit but will turn it brown/ take the sting out. Then lotion so you don't peel. And keep lotion on In the past I've tried refrigerated aloe gel, sliced cucumbers, real aloe plants, etc. vinegar works the best for me. The lotion I use is the ocean potion lotion not the gel. Haven't tried the gel yet! |

Location: La Grande, OR | I use 100% aloe vera. You can buy it at most supermarkets. I would not use lotion unless you have an all natural brand that does not contain alcohol. Two or three uses of the aloe vera will take the heat out of the sunburn. Burts Bees also makes a great skin repair product for sunburns. |

Location: Phoenix | My last sunburn wrapped up pretty quick with aloe Vera. I've been burned many a time being a redhead and vigorously applying aloe Vera and taking cold(er) showers works for me. Maybe I'll try the apple cider vinegar on my next burn.... |

well since I have an allergy to Lidocaine ... I think I may pass on that but it could be SUPER interesting if I did slather it on!! LOL!
It was a fab day of working horses and cloudy and warm and ... well I obviously didn't pay enough attention to my skin that was redding up nicely! Cheers to good days of working horses! |

Location: Nashvegas | As a fair skined freckled red head the best remedy is Desitin - that is right - the diaper ointment! Even the most severe sunburn will be all but gone the next day. Just spread it on the burns as you would a diaper rash and it goes away. |
