ditto. I got a recall notice on my 95 Ford pickup a while back and this reminds me that we need to have that repair done. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Well there was more then one recall. The one specific to my truck is the M63 for the left tie rod end.
I don't know what the other recall is. I know it started with year 2003 or 2005 all the way up to 2014.
1.2 million trucks......
We got our letter back in January. Called the local dealership and he said we had to be put on a waiting list and he would call us.
FOUR months later, and the truck is getting to the point that it's not safe to haul with, I get ****ed and start calling around.
Come to find out that that particular dealership is NOT AUTHORIZED to even look at a 5500 let alone work on it or do a recall fix.
Even Chrysler was ****ed when they found out. They did a three way call for me to listen in while they called that dealership to see what they got told....and the dealership told them the same thing, they would put them on a waiting list and call them when the part was in. Boy it got interesting when Chrysler asked for an appointment and then asked about authorization. The dealership had no idea they were talking to Chrysler.
Anyways.....back to my truck. There is no parts for any of these trucks. Dodge hasn't figured out how to fix the problem yet apparently. But there is a "band-aid" fix for it. Chrysler finally helped me locate a dealership not too far away who is going to look at it Friday. However, the truck is all over the road now, and one tire is completely ruined. Without seeing it yet, Dodge is saying that the recall should not be causing those two issues. However, the "band-aid" fix includes readjusting the ball joints and the alignment.....so how does that NOT affect how the vehicle drives and the tires?
BEYOND frustrated....and FYI....the tires on a 5500 are 19 inches.....so we are looking at 700 dollars to replace the front tires only. |

Lucky you....ours is a 2011 5500.....I don't know if the recall is causing the drifting/jerking issues while driving, or causing the one tire to go bald, but something is definitely wrong with this truck...... |

| We had it done to our 2011 yesterday. We waited several months for the parts to show up. I asked about the safety of driving and hauling a trailer. A couple of different dealers told me the same thing, you are safe when the truck is moving. The tie rod only brakes when the truck is not moving/parked and the front wheels are being turned hard either direction.

Location: Kansas | I rec'd the recall notice. Problem was there weren't any available parts to replace / make the repairs. They were / are back ordered. I was told they had the replacement part ready to go, but found it to be wrong also. Since I needed my truck to haul from Ks. to Tx. and pick up a horse I chose to get the front end kit and replace it myself. I found the kit at another dealer and it was done the next day. My dealer was telling me...you should be okay to drive it, until the parts come in...LOL Not with my trailer and my horse. Can you imagine the wreck that could happen...nope got it fixed myself and will have to argue with Dodge, over the cost later. |

We were told the same thing. However, as I mentioned, my 5500 is all over the road now and a tire is bald. So either the recall has something to do with it, or there is another seperate issue they need to address. Thank goodness hubby bought extra warranty coverage.
Chrysler is like "you only really have to worry when making sharp turns with a heavy trailer".....and I'm like...well......
As soon as you pull in my driveway from town, you have to torque the hell out of the rig and make an immediate 180 degree turn, then back it down to the barn. Yes it sucks, but we make do with what we have. |

| I have had TWO friends who had the tie rod go bad in their trucks. One friend was leaving a rodeo with a trailer, horses and children and the tie-rod broke when pulling out of the drive way of the arena! Thankfully it happened there and not when they were on the highway! Her truck is an early model 2013. The second friend's went bad while on the highway. It was mine-owned work truck and I want to say it was a 2012. He rolled. He was OK, the truck however was not. I know that the gal's who went bad at the rodeo had a problem with her tires wearing uneven. I cannot say it was from the tie-rod or not but I would definitely have it looked at if I were you! |

| My daughters broke last week when she was making a left hand U-turn in the middle of the road! They say that's when they usually will break - when you make a sharp left turn going slow. They had a recall on the recall parts so we can't get them to replace the parts on my truck yet. They repaired my daughters truck with parts that were for people on a waiting list. |

| I have a 06 3500 and I received a recall for the steering box and tie rod ends, but I had everything replaced by a journeyman mechanic 3 months before the recall.
However Chrysler says I still need to take it in and have it checked. |

| I received that recall notice and attempted to get an appointment with my local dealership to have my 2012 3500 repaired. I was told I would be put on a waiting list. 3 months later I received another notice, reminding me that I needed to get the recall done. I again called the dealership and was told about the waiting list. The waiting list was due to the fact that Chrysler was only allowing the dealerships to order one part per week. Really? They then told me the original part they were using to fix the recalled part was now being recalled and all of the trucks that were supposedly fixed have to be repaired once again.
Instead of yelling at the poor girl at the dealership, I called Chrysler. They were not helpful, at all. The girl I talked to told me they were working on the problem and would get the new parts out as soon as they could. I asked the girl what Chrysler was going to do when this part broke on my truck while I was hauling my horses down the road, and she told me they could get me a tow truck. A tow truck? Wow!
Needless to say, I was p**@@ed after these two phone calls, and still have not got my truck repaired. |
