| I know you can't control another persons horse or how that person rides ect.. I have a really good stud but I haven't taken him anywhere since I have bred him and people don't know how to give you room and they like to run into you lol.. So how do you control their stuffiness for a lack of words.... Do you use Vicks in their nose , give them hormones??? What do you do?!?! |

Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | Personally, I wouldn't go around you if you were riding a stud. I'd be protecting my horse from any and all potential "situations." So, I guess if they are crazy enough to run up on you while you're on a stud, then just go ahead and give them a free breeding....... |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I hauled mine in a 20 ft stock trailer so when I wasn't on him, he was IN the trailer. Didn't have to worry about some nut tieing their mare right behind him. I also stayed out of crowded alleyways and just tried to stay where I could keep HIM safe. He was a total gentleman, never nickered etc. My husband hauling him to brandings etc got him over that in a quick hurry. |

Location: Riding Crackhead. | I hauled mine all the time and he was a gem. My friend and I put on a winter series in a little indoor arena in town and I tied my stud up in the arena so I could run in the office to do the payout. Keep in mind in our little community and everyone at the run knew he was a stud but you can't fix stupid. A girl and her dad turned a mare loose in the arena. Who the hell does that? Bugs started nickering a little and making himself look real pretty. My friend saw what was going on and came and got me. The dad and daughter were standing there looking stupid so I hollared across the arena. My stud fee is $______ and if your stupid enough to turn your mare loose in an arena where a stud is tied up then please start writing your check. They got their mare out of the arena. |

Get him socialized at home before you attempt to take him to a race. If he is really good you would hate to have him get hurt because no one would give you room |

| My stallion is now in his third year of covering mares. I have found that his behavior at shows has improved a ton, and he was good at shows before he bred. But now he absolutely, positively, KNOWS, that he is not going to have any fun except in our breeding place at HOME. He was tied a normal trailer to trailer distance (15-20') from a squat-n-pee in heat mare my last show and he barely looked at her, never talked, and didn't try to linger when I was leading him 3 steps away to get on him.

Why do you think you are entitled to more room in the warm up pen because you choose to bring a stallion? |

| I'm sorry if I come loping up beside you and not realize that you are on a stud. If you bring a stud to a barrel race you should be able to handle him. Flame away.

| I bring my unseasoned 2 year old stud to see the sights sometimes, and I don't expect anyone to give me any more room than another horse. I tie my stud to the first tie and my other horses further down. I do put a blue ribbon in his tail...but if he can reach you or your horse, it's probably your fault because we show up early and park in the back or in an area that isn't easily accessible once one trailer is in that area at a local jackpot spot. I do not pony him at the jackpots yet...only at home or in our local weeknight open arena. |

I totally agree. Robyn Herring is a friend and I have ridden right up to her on a mare and her stallion does not even look. She told me that she broke down in OK and a team roper stopped and loaded her two horses in a four horse trailer and the guy already had three horses in the trailer--so five horses in a four horse. One was a mare and one was Happy. She said he behaved like a gentleman.
If you do not know what your horse is going to do in crowded conditions you probably need to keep him at home. |
