Need input from people who have been there or even better people who live in that area.  What are the Must Do's?  Looking into whitewater rafting, fly fishing, zip line, the Going to the Sun road,  Old Faitful, would like to see wildlife, moose, buffalo, bear, Things we don't see here in the Oklahoma Hills. Any websites you recommend, places to stay  ( good clean and not fancy or pricey rather spend my money on fun and food. ) Great places to eat, We will be renting a car in Boseman and driving so any special things to see traveling from park to park.  June 7 through 15

So many things to see in a week. Road to sun is really awesome. We rode our motorcycles. Beautiful waterfalls, Mountain Goats and lots of traffic:(
Still worth it. We stayed in Whitefish Montana which isn't too far from park. Cool little town with great micro-breweries and lots of good food. Can't remember place we stayed though. We also did the tram at the ski area in Whitefish. Awesome views from top and good restaurant.

Just outside of the North entrance to Yellowstone is a place called Chico Hot Springs Lodge and Spa. Great place to stay with great food and fun hot spring. Loved it!

If you want to see tons of buffalo go to Hayden valley in Yellowstone. Herds of Buffalo everywhere. Right on the road and sometimes you see stampedes. Totally cool, but be prepared lots of traffic! We were on our motorcycles so it was easier to maneuver thru.

My favorite hotel in Yellowstone was Lake Hotel. Old and classy. A bit pricey, but very beautiful and classic.

Have fun!

Lake McDonald Lodge is cool to visit. Stay if you can get reservations. My dad's family homesteaded on the far side of Lake McDonald across from the lodge. Take a ride in the old taxis they have in the park. Drive slow and sight see.
In summer you can pick bear grass up on the pass. We have always called it sqaw-tit. When you see it you will know what I am talking about. Because of the Grizzlies I have always been afraid to hike in the park. There must be some safe areas to hike. I love the Kalispel area some really cool western art museums. A relative of mine Ace Powell was a western artist and has paintings in the museums. He was drinking friends with Charles Russel.
Also you can go white water rafting between Kalispel and the park.

I love the area.

In glacier, be sure to visit polebridge and get a pie at the bakery. This is just outside a slightly more remote part if the park. On your way to or from glacier I would recommend driving past he gene lake and through Ennis mt. There is a huge landslide that ****ed and entire river, it is also a beautiful drive. I'd recommend driving to glacier through the seeley swan valley and possibly renting a canoe for the seeley swan canoe trail. This is a great area with less tourist than in the parks. It is where Montana's residents go on vacation, just at the edge of the bob Marshall wilderness.

Unfortunately the going to the sun road will most likely not be open. Montana's snowpack is above average this year and I've heard about a few avalanches on the going to the sun road.

Another high alpine road that may be open in the bear tooth pass. This road connets red lodge mt to Yellowstone by the Lamar valley.

Paradise valley is beautiful, and a great way to get to the north entrance of Yellowstone (head south out of Livingston). Gardner has both trail riding and whitewater rafting.

I used to live in western montana and even fought fire out there. If you have any questions pm me

Great whitewater rafting on the Middle Fork of the Flathead River which runs along the south edge of Glacier Park.  Plowing crews are already half way to the top (Logan Pass) a beautiful drive  from West Glacier over the top and exit at St. Marie.  Depending on when you are coming there will be some road construction on the east side of Going To The Sun as they are rebuilding the road.  There is a zip line on Big Mtn (more recently renamed Whitefish Mtn Resort), a premier destination winter ski resort.  Also Big Sky Waterslide is a fun place to spend the day.  Again depending on the month, in the Flathead you will find weekly rodeos, cherry picking in late July/August, many lakes.  Polebridge is a great place to visit.  Bigfork Summer Playhouse offers up some fun plays and different ones run all summer long.  Lots of big 4th of July celebrations with fireworks displays on both Whitefish and Flathead Lakes as well as a huge display by Eddy DeBartelo (past owner of the SF 49ers) on his ranch midway in the valley that can be seen for miles around.   Lots of hotels (upscale and also the typical Holiday Inn Express type) but make your reservations well in advance because during tourist season it is not uncommon to have no vacancies available anywhere.  Check out the Chamber of Commerce websites for Kalispell, Whitefish and Columbia Falls.  Farmer's Markets in each of the 3 towns each being a different day of the week.  Majestic Valley Arena is a large equine facility with a website and there is something going on there every weekend all summer from horse shows, roping,  MT High School Rodeo Finals, reinings, cuttings, etc. A very active NBHA with lots of barrel races if you wanted to go spectate.  They have a website nbhamt5.com   There is plenty of fly fishing but you will find more of that in SW MT and closer to the west entrance to Yellowstone.  I live in the valley but I personally prefer to see Yellowstone as the road is not so curvy and you can see out better due to a lot flatter contour of the land in Yellowstone vs glacier being more steep and rugged.  However it is very beautiful.  You will definately see bison in YNP as they are overflowing.  And likely wolves as well if you travel over to the Gardiner entrance.

Definitely do the Going to the Sun Road...you won't regret it. :)  You will see goats up there almost every time. If you are planning on staying up there, try to stay in Kalispell...it will be less expensive than any place around the park and it is a big enough town that you will have any choice of your mainstream motels. DO NOT make ANY plans to stay, eat, even use the bathroom in Browning if you can help it. Trust me on this one, but if you go through there you will understand.

ETA: At that time in June the Going to the Sun Road probably won't be open, at least where you can go through it completely, darn it. But there is pretty scenery. I don't know as much about Yellowstone as we are closer to Glacier and go there more than Yellowstone. Ennis is a cute town, and if you can make it, go to Virginia City, MT, there is a lot of history there, but in the summer they definitely capitalize on it with tourist attractions.
