| Never in my life would I have thought about buying an unregistered horse. But...I did. And I am more pleased with this horse than I think I have ever been in awhile! Not to mention, she has a full sister who is registered. Tracking down all the people to get her registered has been pretty unsuccessful so far... But I am trying....... would YOU buy an unregistered horse? How much would you pay if it was a 1D, pro rodeo caliber?

Location: west of East Texas | I did, and it wasn't even a gelding! hahaha She was a 7yo with proof of winning and I'm not into raising colts so I wasn't that worried about the papers. I loved the time I had with her. But then daughter talked me out of her. |

| After I bought her, I did some researching, in hopes I could figure out she was...and I did. Turns out she has a full sister.... My mare just never got registered to due to a divorce...blah blah blah..... here is my mares full sister. http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/shes+a+cashy+chick
I felt like I hit the jackpot after I found out what she was! Just a matter of getting her registered now! It's going to be a long, drawn out process, the guy that owned judge cash when she was bred is pretty sour about selling judge I guess and might not have any of the paperwork from 11 years ago... If anyone has any connections with him that would be great(; I have contacts for everyone else, just not him.... and he is the important one...go figure... |

| I believe you can get the current owner of judge cash to sign the breeding certificate, you will need to verify this with aqha
Also the dam needs to have DNA on file, if not it needs to be as you will need to parantage verify as the horse is over 4 yrs of age. It will cost you quite a bit of money to register her.

BTW - If the owner of the stallion will sign a Breeders Certificate and you get the DNA test done to verify parentage (which costs a small fee) you should be able to get her registered. AQHA was running a special where they were allowing verifiable older horses to get registered for $300.00 each. Not sure if the special is still going on, but I would call AQHA and ask. I got two older geldings registered this way just last year. It's definitely worth it if you can get it done. Good luck! |

They said when its all said and done it will cost me $540 |

What kind of "record" does she have before you bought her? All things to take into consideration. Is it worth the time and effort? Will it really add value in a way that you'll actually benefit from?
Forgot to say how old is this mare?

Location: Deep South | An own daughter of Judge Cash? I would definitely say it's worth the money, time and effort to get her registered. Prayers it doesn't, but should a career ending injury ever happen to this mare you just saved her from becoming dog food. |

Location: Gainesville, TX | If breeding, etc., is not something you're interested in, just performance, sure I'd buy a horse, mare or gelding, with no papers. They can still win you plenty.
That being said, looks like this girl could have a really nice set anyways so its definitely worth the time and money to get her registered, even if it takes you 6 months to a year. |

| I know Scott and his ex-wife Angela. Angela is a friend of mine, Scott - I don't even know where he is anymore. I don't see him as being bitter and not signing the breeders cert, he never seemed like that kind of guy to me. And they always put all of the mares on teh breeders cert - I actually did the books for them at the time the mare was supposedly bred. Have you pulled DNA to make sure that it matches? At the time she was bred there were no issues with them so there's no reason she shouldn't have been registered. |

Are you sure the day's DNA is on file? As I looked at one people had the registration application, said everything was in order, but the horse couldn't be registered as the dam was never dna'd and was deceased. |

I can't remember the exact year, but horses born before a specific year didn't have to be DNA tested to have foals registered.
I'm just suggesting the op look into it prior to spending all the time and money to register the horse just to find out it can't be done. |

I just asked Angela who owned JC when they divorced, if there was a time when Scott didn't fill out breeders cert's, and if she remembers the mare and who owned her. I'll post her response when I can.

| Here's what I could find out. I think you're SOL, the mare came off the reservation and most of the time there's no follow through on that end. JC was sold to Scottie who now owns him. I'm not sure how that would work, I thought he was never actually owned by SCott and Angela, they just stood him at Painted Rock. So I don't know if you would need to track down Jim Carlson or ???
Every year we stood judge we submitted the breeders certificate report. His owner was Jim Carlson out of Washington. He was a hands off owner. The owner originally for River Rendezvous was Nat And Mavis Shaw out of warm spring, if my memory serves me right. After we divorced Judge went somewhere else to stand. I don't know if he was sold to them or if they just did what we did. Man you are making me go back over a decade. Lol. Thanks for the birthday wishes. What are you trying to find out?
