Total Germophobe Posts: 6443 Location: Montana	I think Fallon Taylor ran Baby Flo with blinkers on at the NFR this last year. Haven't tried it personally, but that is why they use blinkers on race horses (usually) because otherwise they get distracted with their surroundings. It would be worth a try. The worst that could happen is he either doesn't like them or they didn't work. The best that could happen is he stays focused and clocks better.

Namesless in BHW Posts: 10368 Location: At the race track with Ah Dee Ohs	I'm not a fan of blinkers on race horses...that said, if they need them they need them. They will get one focused and paying attention. If said horse is that unfocused and looking around I would try them and see if they work.

Elite Veteran Posts: 678 Location: Canada	How long has your horse been running? How old is your horse? If it's young or only been running a short time more seasoning will help with that. If it's been years and the horse is still looky it may be worth a shot.

Elite Veteran Posts: 602	Not a fan of blinkers seems like a bandaid. Went to a race a few weeks ago, gal ran her horse with blinkers, and she ended up in the hospital. She was running home and didnt slow her horse down. She thought she could turn him in a circle..... well the horse didnt see the fence and they slammed in it. Ive seen more blinkers this year at races and I think its because Fallon & Baby Flo did it. I dont like to follow trends.

Member Posts: 24 Location: Canada	Thanks for all the feedback. It has nothing to do with a trend since I'd never seen or heard of it being done. That being said wouldn't be worried about hitting the fence because he stops without going in a circle. To answer the other question he is 7 and has been running for 3 years. He had a year of professional cutting training, and had been calf roped off of before we got him. Thanks again
