I thought there were 4 trees? I could be wrong. I had one for a while. Loved the craftsmanship. I had the #1 tree, which was the most narrow. It fit the horse I bought it for, but when I sold her I didn't have anyone else narrow enough for it.

I have barrel racer/roper combo and I love it. It's got a nice sweet spot, it's narrow; it's very comfortable and in great shape. It will last forever. My first few saddles were Tod Slone's, and I tried others like Amerman's, Marlene McRae's, Double J's and nothing fit me or my horse like my moms combo saddle did, so I stole it from her and I've been using it ever since!

Just a hint........Tod Sloan has changed saddle tree makers several times so not all comparisons will be true.

I was looking at the Tod Slone saddles too, so would be interested to hear opinions. I just talked to Keith yesterday about the trees, he told me the diamond s series uses a newer tree so will be different than the older, they have less curve in the tree front to back. I didn't really speak too much about the trees in particular but he seemed very helpful, I just told him my issues and then sent him pictures of my horse.

I had one a few years back before my horse doubled in width and I loved it - great fit for me! I was always sorry it wasn't wider.

I have a Diamond S Slone that I won in 2005--hands down my most favorite saddle I have ever set in, and it has fit everything I have put it on.  If I ever buy a barrel saddle it will be a Slone.

I ride a Tod Slone on a #3 tree, which is the widest tree they currently build on.  It is wide through the gullet but what makes it fit my mare is that the bars are very flat under the seat, which is where she's really wide.  The bars and the twist are, in my opinion, what you need to be concerned with.  After I had tried 50 gazillion saddles and nothing was working, I called Slone Saddlery and talked with Tod himself.  He is very knowledgeable and always glad to help.  Give him a call.  :

Blaines mom, do you have the regular #3 or the flat fit #3?

ETA: Would love to see some pics!
