Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | I know we have very hard water at our house here in Missouri. You can see it, feel it, etc. The kind of hard water that leaves a film on everything....but it certainly is delicious to drink......
Anyways.....shortly after we moved in we purchased a new samsung dishwasher. Retail price tag on it was between 6-700. We got it on sale for around 450 or so.
Anyways, it's HORRIBLE about getting dishes clean! We have even used the oxy stuff for hard water, and run a cleaner for just the dishwasher often.
Anyone know if we just got jipped on the dishwasher or if it's really from the hard water? I've gone back to washing all our dishes by hand and using the dishwasher as a drying rack because it's aggravates me so bad.
I want to get a water softener for our house but right now can't afford it, and also the water for the horses comes from the house and we wanted to run new lines before we got a softener..... |

| I have the really hard water too. The hard water is clogging it up. CLR will help unclog it. My neighbor is a small appliance repair man and he says to run vinegar through it once a week. It really helps mine.

We use CLR, but not vineager. I could use that when I clean it I guess. Once a week we put the lil bottle of cleaner in there with no dishes and run a cycle. It's jsut frustrating...... |

| The calcium builds up in the parts that spins around. If you can take them off, shake them and it sounds like rocks in there. When the dishwasher runs, these calcium rocks blocks the holes where the water comes out. You might try to put the CLR in a syringe and shoot it in these parts and let it sit for a while to dissolve the calcium. The dishwasher will not work right if you have the calcium built up in there. |

Location: Somewhere between raising hell and Amazing Grace | Thanks guys. So you all think it's most likely the hard water? We don't run the dishwasher often, maybe once a week, and I know when you have hard water, letting it sit is BAD.
I'm wondering if it's best for me to just hand wash dishes until we get a softener? We will be selling this house in two years or so and I would hate to tear up appliances before then. We purchased the fridge and dishwasher since we moved in, and do plan on leaving them and purchasing a new stove when we sell. Maybe......because I am in love with my fridge..... |

| Lemishine is the absolute best. I use it along with cascade complete(dry). We have horrible jip water |

Yes we have, about four different kinds. Regular cascade, the newer cascade, the finish stuff, and the oxy. We have the oxy in the dry rinse but we also tried the actual oxy soap.
I have been using the lil packets, should I try the gel or a powder or anything else? Why doesn't Dawn make some good dishwasher stuff? Or do they and I just dont know it |

This one is new. And the dishes aren't cloudy from the hard water, because of the stuff we are using, it just seems like they aren't getting clean, not all of them, just some of them. I moved the cups to the bottom rack and that is helping. |

| We have the same dishwasher and very hard water too. Having the jet dry/ rinse aid turned all the way up helped, there is a product called glisten that we add in with the detergent which helps. The only thing that made th film (mostly) disappear is turning the water softener to run every to days. You may be out of luck until you get one installed.
We hate our samsung! We never had this problem with the old dishwasher and wish we hadn't replaced it. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | How old is the dish washer? I have well water thats hard, I use Lemi-Shine along with Cascade, this is the only way to get my dishes clean, and Jet dry. My dish washer is really old but still does a great job, its got to be going on at least 15 to 18 years old. Its almost time for a new one but this one is still working great 
Sounds like the dish washer you got might not be a good working one. I have a Frigidaire. |

Location: Nowhere Special | I had to do this with mine.. Take the shelves out and unscrew the spray bars and the matt under the one on the bottom if you can, soak it all in pure vinegar several times, rinse with hot water, scrup the inside of dishwasher with vinegar and hot water.. and SCRUB the sprayers and matt making sure to open up all the little holes again.. Once you got all that done put it all back together and run it about a dozen times empty with nothing but vinegar in it everytime.. Just dump it in the bottom and don't be chincy with it go get several gallons of vinegar and use it up.. Once you have it all cleaned out dump a little vinegar in EVERYTIME you run it with the dishes.. My dishwasher went from "are these things even clean" which they were not to see yourself in the reflection of your cups and dishwasher door.. I have very hard water and no softner vinegar takes care of all of it way better then the clr or dishwasher cleaners (cause I tried them all first) and I am OCD so you know it works. LOL |
