I was super sad when Barbaro didn't make it all the way through! He was gonna be a triple crown winner!
Go CC! |

I was sad about Barbaro too...that was the first year I really started "studying" the Kentucky Derby contenders, and I picked him!
I'm super excited about California Chrome. He has done so well coming from humble beginnings, switching from a synthetic track to dirt, and still handling 18 other contenders for the Run for the Roses. Go California Chrome!!! |

Location: Montana | Oops, I was unaware that Santa Anita had switched back to dirt! Last time I really paid attention was when Curlin ran the Breeder's Cup at Santa Anita, and it was synthetic at the time. Go California Chrome any who! |

Location: Ky | I believe we are witnessing the next Triple Crown winner. It's been too long and this is the horse. He won the Derby on a hand ride the last quarter so I'm sure he can handle the 1 and a half of the Belmont. Just has to get through this one healthy.
Our party is back at Ellis Park for this one too. I won some money on CC at derby but I didn't be enough. I'll load up on him this time.
I put a good bit on Calvin Borel across the board in the Derby. That move he made out of the gate cost him a chance. I didn't know if it was Calvin that did that or if he was just following orders. Since he's not riding Ride on Curlin now I suspect it was a move Calvin made.
I need to pair up CC with another horse since his odds are so bad.
Who you got for second? |

| If he breaks good he should have an easy win. Other than ride on curling the field is really light. |

They did a news story and the trainer blamed Calvin, he told him to wait before moving in and he moved straight to the rail. |

Location: Do I hear Banjos? | Have you all read the article that talks about why we don't get Triple Crown winners any more? I need to dig that up as I read it earlier this week. The author asserts that the reason we can get a horse winning the first two races and losing the third is that a lot of the trainers enter the derby...then lay off for the Preakness as it's so close together...then their horse is much fresher/more rested than the Derby/Preakness winner when it comes time for the Belmont. It gives their horse and edge over the would be Triple Crown winner.
Sure enough...hardly any of the other Derby contenders entered the Preakness. Makes you think...
I personally have been waiting my whole life to see a Triple Crown Winner...I was too young when Affirmed did it in 78 to even know what horse racing was. I so hope C.C. can pull it off!

Not to be a downer though. They were talking on ESPN this morning that he has a cough. They are hoping that it is nothing, but are somewhat concerned about him developing a cold. I hope he just needs some and will kick some serious butt! |

Come on down tomorrow. We have extra seats and they are paid for. I have 3 4 person tables with monitors reserved. They are all side by side. They are already paid for. We've have some late scratches. Looks like only 8 people going. Got an extra 4 seats. |
