| Bump - would be interesting to know since the Salina Farmers and Ranchers Sale was expensive to be buying ... a good sellers market for sure. |

Yeah sounds legit for a DTF...no prices anywhere. Had some nice horses on the sale to! |

Location: Oklahoma | It was PITIFUL. I was there. They couldn't even get an $800 bid on some of them. A Mr. Fancy Fame that was entered in the futurity only brought $5100. That being said, I don't think the quality of the horses was quite as good as last year....and the prices were much higher last year. The sale was very well run, but I just think with the winter we've had, a lot of the consignors just didn't have their horses as ready this year.....and there were certainly not the buyers that they had last year. One thing I noticed was that their bid spotters didn't do a very good job. One lady behind me was waving her catalog, yelling, etc. and I finally had to yell at them for her to get them to see her and acknowledge her bid. They said the late afternoon sun was preventing them from being able to see everyone so I bet they'll set it up different next year. |

It's been several years since I've seen a good sellers market there. Do you know what they averaged. Seems like they always sell a few for a good price, but after the top 10-20 the prices have really dropped off. |

I'm looking for results ... hrmmmmm and not finding official ones. Overall, it was a better sale to sell at than buy when compared to the last 2 years ...
The full sib to my 3 yo filly - this one was a yearling filly, sold for 1200$. When we bought my filly as a yearling we paid 600$. And I gotta say, the yearling this year didn't hold a candle to mine ...
Watched several grade 10-12 yo geldings bring 2500 - 4500 ... which I thought was astronomical considering what they were. The futurity nominated horses seemed to bring better money than last year.
I will keep digging and see what I can find. |

I haven't been to the sale in several years, and haven't even looked at the catalogs lately. Seems like there are a few nice ones consigned, but the majority are just horses. The last set of results I saw showed the top 20 I think, and around half of those sold for $2,000 or less. I'd love to see full results, but I don't think I've ever seen them published anywhere. Or even the full sale average. |

I totally agree as it is usually the owners or spectators/enthusiasts who would be buyer and they would most likely be working during the week. They would do much better on a Saturday afternoon IMO. |

I completely agree. I went with the express interest in 2 horses only - out of a FULL 2 day sale. The full sib to my filly and a stud colt. Well, the stud colt was scratched because he got sick and the filly wasn't worth the 1200$ it took to buy her - so I didn't buy or even bid on a thing. I guess I thought for what the horses were in person, they sure brought a lot of money. I will have to go look at the results that I did write down ...
I am not original to this region. I've only been here 3 yrs and had pals bring me to this sale ... like you pointed out, the type of horses at this sale are 99% not what I am after. I guess I thought for what the horses were in person, they sure brought a lot of money.

| I wish this sale would be built up more and put on the Saturday coming in when ft. smith opens the gates. It would help those who brought ones to demo get all that crap outta the way so they can focus on their colts and gives everyone a chance to get there on a weekend but doesn't interfere with the finals and the show they put on before it etc
I feel the industry needs a sale around this time of year for 3 yr old prospects that people can buy which will have a nice start on them and they can take and get them ready for the juvenile or hold out tell a later futurity. Barrel people really need to come together more as an industry and put our money together to get bigger incentives, purses, and put more money in the sport in general. We bicker and argue far too much. Can't we all get it together. Wouldn't everyone love a NICE sale to go to and find a prospect worth the money? |

Well, those yesterday sure were worth the money. I didn't take any money or a trailer with me, because I don't need young horses any more, but if I had brought money, I would have sure bought a couple of those 3 year olds that sold in the first 20. |
