Do you measure from the base of the horn to the beginning of the padding or from the front of the pommel to the beginning of the seat padding??

I measure to the edge of the padding, some measure to the stitching on the back of the cantle. I want as much room possible for my butt as needed, when I need a 15, its to the padding otherwise I'd say I need a 14 or 14.5.

Measure up against the back of the fork to the front stitching that binds the top of cantle. A finished seat will measure about 3/8" or so smaller than the bare tree.

Let me see if my picture will load of how I measure my seats.
Measure from the back of the swells to the edge of the padding or to the edge of the stitching on the leather cantle peice. I measure to the leather cantle peice, but some measure to the edge of the padding.
