Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I was thrown yesterday and landed on my head then my body hit. I was on very hard ground with small rocks. It hurt but not major and a few cuts and scrapes. I was sore this morning but as the day has went on I barly can move. It's every where too not just in one place. Anyone have any suggestions on how to help? I've tried soaking in hot water and Epsom salt and it didn't work.

Location: Southeast Louisiana | Aleve works best for me. It's good stuff! That and a heating pad, but if you're hurting everywhere, the heating pad only works for a smaller area. Maybe you should go get checked out at the emergency room or the after hours clinic. The ones around here are pretty good.
Might just need to visit the chiropractor tomorrow.
Sorry you're feeling poorly, hope you get better soon. |

Location: Central Texas | Unfortunately, only time will heal the hurt. I had this happen to me except I wasn't thrown. I fell head first from the top of a 5 ft horse panel. Head hit then body hit. It rattled every part of my body and then some. Felt ok the first day, the day 2 and 3 were the worst. Just took some OTC pain relievers and let time heal the rest. I would however go to the doctor if you think you seriously hurt something. Hope you feel better soon. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I was already sore from skiing and inter tubing Monday. My doc is gone on mission trip to Africa. I would have gone to the ortho doc but The Ortho place I have used for about 10yrs no longer takes my insurance. The closes one that takes my insurance is 1.5hrs away which isn't bad but they have a waiting time of 3+ months for new patients. |

Location: Texas | I would find a GOOD chiro. I got thrown like yard -dart years ago & a DO/chiro fixed me in one adjustment. It felt like a miracle after I had suffered in pain for a month. Don't wait! |

Location: Where I am happiest | Go to the ER. Thats what it's there for. They will check you out, get x-rays if needed and prescribe some muscle relaxers which will help with the pain and get you moving again if nothing is broke. At least you will know if anything is broke. . |

| You should probably at least see a chiro. I came off one in 2004 landed neck and shoulders I could hear a loud snap when I hit. I bet it took me 15 -20 minutes to get out of the arena because I couldn't stand up right very long without feeling like I would pass out. It was 3 days before I could walk I crawled anywhere I had to go in the house. I never went to doctor or chiro and wish I had I still have daily pain sometimes pretty bad so I suggest at least getting checked out. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I don't do chiropractics. I do however go to a acupressureist. Acupressure is 100 times better in my opinion. I'll contact him in the morning and see what he says. Only bone im a little concerned with is my hip. Everything else I think is just muscle. |

Location: Texas | Really, you need to go to the ER. I had a bad fall last year and my kids made me go to the ER. Turns out I had 5 broken bones - one of them my NECK. The only reason I agreed to go was, I felt nauseated when I tried to stand.
Please, better to be safe. |

Location: Lost in the corn of Iowa. | Aleeve or Tylenol. Some sort of OTC anit-inflammatory. And try soaking in the tub nightly with Epsom salts. Also a visit to a chiro for you would probably help. I bet your out of alignment and that's why you hurt so badly, your body is compensating. Also a simple massage, or sit on a heating pad. I know they sell the ones that go over your car seat that is a massager and or heat too. That would help for your back at least. |

| Please get checked out by a Dr and get xrays before you do any accupressure or chiropractics or anything. If something is a hairline fracture right now it could be made much worse by not knowing what is really going on.
My aunt fell off her horse in the lineup of a HUS class once. Not a violent fall at all really, he was sleeping and she asked him to move, it must have startled him because he jumped to the side and literally out from under her. They took her to the ER then but the xrays didn't show anything. A few days later she could still barely move and when in to her ER at home - 2 fractured vertebrae in her back. The Dr. walked in the room after reading the xrays and literally asked her not to move, the wrong move could have shifted the fracture and paralyzed her.
I am the same way about toughing out pain, but after falls like that I will always go get checked out just to make sure. We would spend a few hundred on our horse in a heartbeat if we thought something was wrong, but we always seem to balk at spending it on ourselves. |

I agree! A friend of mine became a lawn dart and hit the ground very hard much like the OP. On her head and neck. She waited a few days and then finally went in. Turns out she had a fracture in her neck and the wrong turn of the head would have completely paralized her from the neck down. OP, PLEASE just go to the ER before you do anything else or seek any type of alternate treatment. It is paramount to be sure there are no fractures. |

| Please go see a Dr. for x-rays. You mentioned you have insurance - please use it :)
Then hit up a chiro to realign things. I was a lawn dart 3 weeks ago and didn't feel real release of pressure until after my second chiro appt. My hips, shoulders, and neck were all OUT badly enough I was experiencing a migraine the second day after I got pitched in the dirt. |

| Please go to the ER or urgent care. An x ray is in order. There are too many important things controlled by that motor in your head called your brain that we need to function.
As far as muscle soreness .. time but if you want … arnica rub will help with the bruising … its slow but helps. You can buy it at GNC or a health food store. Not sure if its sold at Walgreens or CVS.
I got bucked off about a year ago and hit my head and lower back. Took me a long time to heal up from that.
Get well soon! |

| I will agree with above posters... I got thrown really bad and landed the same way you did a few weeks ago.. I thought I would be fine and just worked through the soreness and ignored it.
Three weeks later (today) I am in miserable pain in my neck and shoulders. So bad that this week has been very tough to get through... and it has been a short week. I can hardly sit at my desk for an hour without crying and moving 1000 different ways to get away from the pain.
I called a chiro on Wednesday and set up and appointment on Monday. Needless to say, monday at 4:30 can not come quick enough. I am absolutly miserable.
Do something now before it gets worse. |
