so do any of my bb's have dogs that will kill snakes?  do they do it naturally or did you goad them to teach them or do they do it naturally?  What do i need to know about finding a snake killing son-of-a-gun!

My best friend has Bassett hound/mini aussie pups. They seem to go after anything that moves and are super friendly.

I'm curious as well!  I've killed three in last six weeks by catching them in my chicken coop!

The people that we bought our home and land from had a Blue Heeler that killed every snake that come into this yard, they say she was a snake killing little sucker.

i was wondering about a rat terrier type dog.  any dog would need to be an outdoor dog type and not a roaming type.  i have two now that do a great job with critter patrol.... there are no coons, possems, or rats around but they have not shown adeptness on snake patrol.

My sister had a Terrier mix that died fighting a rattle snake. She said she jumped in front of my sister and went after it. It bit her and by the time she got her to the vet, it was too late. And, that wasn't the first snake she had tangled with either.....so, I'm guessing a Terrier is an excellent choice lol.

You could have mine.....but, I'm in Louisiana. She's 4 months old and has killed one already. Granted it was only about 1 1/2 feet and a grass snake, but she sure loved hauling her snake around. I had to take it away from her and dump it, because just throwing it in the back ditch didn't work......she went in after it.

Our cattle dog hasn't had to kill a snake but has killed everything else including amarillos, skunks, squirrels, scorpions and wasps.

My red heiler always barks and will not stop till I finally come and I know it is a snake, then she grabs it and shakes it to death, but wants to show me first.

Definately a terrier or mix. Our Jack Russell/Weenie killed everything! His favorite was centipedes.

My Australian Shepherd kills all the critters on the farm.  His current goal is to catch a fish LOL.  I have asked him not to kill the bull snake that lives on our place because it is hunting the mice and keeping the poisonous snakes away.
