| I haven't done this yet, but here is my plan to build a portable corral: Take 4 16' cattle panels ($24 each) and cut them in half. Then hinge them back together by bending the cut ends back over the other half. So they will fold in half and be 8' long. Set them up in L shapes to form any number of corral configurations. What do you think? May have to drive some small t-posts where they meet and tie them together. |

| Yup. Bought a roll of tape fencing. Put the tape fencing on an electrical wheel, so you can wind it up and let it out. Bought the 2-3 dollar t-posts that you get at tractor supply that holds the tape fencing. I put my t posts in a old chair bag and my rolled up fence (with a handle at the end) in my trailer. I have a solar fencer that I use also. I LOVE IT! My horses love it and I hate them being kept in barns with not much ventilation. |

| Dont forget, this is all assuming your horse is bomb proof! I have been to several rodeos where horses were running and dragging all sorts of paneling because a stirofoam cup blew by or any number of spooks. Its a little scarey seeing a horse running full out with no halter dragging mesh fencing, panels, electrical wire, etc. just a thought. |

This is what I do ... but I also have horses that have been there, done that, and been hauled all over heck and gone. So, it works well for me. |

Location: Arkansas | Also, be aware that many locations will not allow overnight tieout or portable pens of any kind.
Mine either get put in empty stock pens or stand tied to the trailer. They are used to it. My old rodeo horse (the one in my avatar) would actually rest better tied to the trailer than in a stall. |

| I tie to the trailer personally if I don't want to stall or they aren't available. Ive considered hauling panels, we have some at the barn made out of PVC that slide over t posts, just don't haul enough overnight to take them.
Please make sure you're using plastic t posts...one of the ugliest injuries i ever saw was the result of a horse coming down on a metal t-post. |
