| That is the question....
I have watched sooo many for sale videos lately and there have been sooo many horses not being ridden with a back cinch. I prefer to ride with a back cinch (especially running barrels). What about you? On your mark. Get set. Go! |

Location: Oklahoma | When I was younger I didn't ride with one (my saddle didn't come with one & and I never thought twice about it), but when I started riding again I started using them. I went out a bought one for every saddle I have. |

Location: Online | Biggest pet peeve is no back cinch. If I get a saddle that doesn't have one, I get one. And it has to be snug. A loose back cinch is the same as no back cinch. I hate watching a horse getting pounded by the back of the saddle. |

| Back cinch all the way for competition!!! Snugged up and not loose too!
I had a saddle when I was a kid that didn't have a back cinch and at a hard stop at the gate, it flipped up in the back and threw me off. Landed on the steel rail right across the middle of my back. Needless to say, it's been snugged up back cinch ever since! |

Yup. Saw a bigger lady loping her horse without one....felt sorry for the horse. |

| Always a back cinch and snug not just when running barrels either. I have noticed a lot of runs lately that do not have back cinches and I believe they do it to have full contact with the belly when kicking. I'm not a a fan of it, but if this is what someone chooses to do so be it. |

| BTW, I notice the farther East of the country you go the more you will see no back cinch but I think the trend is starting to even pick up around Texas where I live. I won't partake in this trend. Nope. |

Agreed.....AND if it is loose......every time the saddle comes up it slaps them in the belly |

| Snug back cinch. And when it's snug it helps with those round back horses that makes you feel like your saddle is rolling. |

| Depends on how the saddle's rigged. If it's a 7/8 or 3/4 rigging (like a Caldwell or Lynn McKenzie), I don't panic if I don't use a back cinch unless the horse may be a little downhill. But, If it's a full rigging, definitely a back cinch. If I do use a back cinch, it is SNUG, not a hanging waste of leather.
