Location: Royal J Performance Horses, AZ | thats risky, the sire and mare are 3/4 siblings... AND i think you would have a hard time selling it possibly. If it were for resale that is.
NOW if the horse ran on the track and did great or was an outstanding barrel horse and i was looking at it to buy for whatever reason and I could see nothing wrong with the horse then yeah i'd buy it No problem. |

| I might. I don't have a problem line breeding, but that might be a little too much for me because like was mentioned the sire and dam are 3/4 siblings. It could work. But resale probably isn't going to be very good since a majority of people are scared of line breeding. I have a gelding with the same grandsire top and bottom, but no other relatives similar and people are turned off by that.
If you aren't worried about resale then I say go for it! But then again my opinion is probably going to be different than most! |

| Do you people not realize that HFD is pretty much the hottest thing in racing right now? To breed him to a 3/4 sister. I would guarantee that horse would sell in a heartbeat. |

She is crossed back on Scorcho. I'm thinking of a cross for a potential stallion prospect and runner for myself. I highly doubt I would sell this foal filly or stud. It is an intimidating cross. |

Location: Sperry, OK | In my opinion you will get one of two things with the lines being that close... 1) you will compound all the good qualities and be very happy with it, or 2) you will compound all the bad qualities and have a POS... Is that a risk you are willing to take? |

Then I say go for it! (Just don't blame me if it comes out with 5 legs and 2 heads! Just kidding). Seriously that pedigree would not scare me unless of course there is some kind of conformation issue with the line or if they are known to be really hot, fragile minded, or something like that. |

The Heza Fast Dash's are not hot and he has been my favorite stallion here for years. I've had two and I've seen 1000 (not really) and they all look nice to me. Stud and mare have very nice conformation......and I could have the only 5 legged stallion on the market :) |

I agree.
From a genetics perspective, I probably would not risk it myself (this close)
There are a lot of issues in human patients regarding familial genetic "problems" when cousins intermarry. (common in many cultures).
Sometimes, folks have areas in their genetic makeup which are not diverse enough, dubbed "LOH"'s or Loss of heterozygosity. Sometimes, it meants nothing... other times, it can be a severe congenital deformity. I'm not sure how it works with horses though! |
