Location: Arizona | I would like to make my own mule tape halters but all the mule tape I can find has printing from the manufacturer on it. I've never seen a mule tape halter with printing on it. Where do you find it without the printing ? Or does it wash off? |

I just use paracord. It comes in 8 million colors and is ridiculously strong. |

Location: Arizona | I really like the way the mule tape looks and the colors you can die it. I want to play with beaded nose bands too which I think will work better on the mule tape. |

Location: East Texas | I have also been looking and can't seem to find it without the printing. I have 3 of them, two are dyed. But none have print on them. I had a friend put a beaded nose band on one of them, and it looks amazing!

| I'm going to bump this back up because I've been wondering the exact same thing. I generally pick a project to occupy me in the winter and this winter it's making mule tape halters.
Wondering if the printing comes off when you dye it, but not wanting to invest in 1000' of tape if I'm wrong... |

| Just a caution the mule tape colors fade very easy, I had one handmade not sure by who, but even not used stored inside, the color faded.

I would say that would depend on the type of dye being used and if it was done properly, we have some that aren't all that faded really for the age they are.
Can't say that some fading really bothers me if the rest of the craftsmanship is good. |

My husband makes them. If you braid it correctly the printing doesn't show. |

I'm sure there are YouTube videos. Just look up the type of braid you want to do. The video doesn't have to use muletape. I don't braid them, I don't have the patience and don't pull my braids tight enough. Kyle has always braided things up here and there, his great uncle used to braid his own leather whips and reins etc. He just wanted a halter, and wasn't paying for one lol. So he ordered a giant roll, and sold the first two to pay for it!! He's also made hobbles, leads, a headstall. He always experimenting. He has a lot of downtime at work. He's even welded his own bits on company time lol. |
