Presently, I feed Healthy Edge to 9 of my horses and Safechoice Senior to my senior horses. I add in beet pulp and rice bran along with other supplements for hooves, joints, ulcers...whatever. My feed purchasing trips take me to 2 different feed stores because the one who carries Healthy Edge doesn't carry Safechoice and vise versa. I fed this because I couldn't find ADM or Triple Crown in my area. Well, I found a Triple Crown dealer about 30 minutes from me and an ADM dealer about 30 miles in the opposite direction. So...given the option of the two, which would you go with. Also, in doing so, would you still need to feed beet pulp and rice bran? In reading about ADM and listening to the Clinton Anderson show last night, the ADM lady commented that in feeding ADM feed, the only other supplement one would need is for joints. What are your thoughts...

Great!!! Thank you. I'm pretty much sold on the seniorglo for my oldies, but in the hopes of going to one place for feed definitely peaks my interest.

I just started feeding ADM SeniorGLO and ADM PrimeGLO. So far I think they are amazing. I have never tried Triple Crown so I can't give you a comparison there. I like that you feed so little of the ADM and I am honestly seeing results!  I wanted a lower NSC feed, don't feed a lot that had good ingredients and lucked out and found an ADM dealer 2hrs from me. All feed stores are far away from me :)

I give the Senior to a late 20's maybe 30 yr old pony and a 21 yr old gelding. I feed the PrimeGLO to my riding horses. I think I will pick up some JuniorGLO for the weanlings this fall. I do give the pony soaked beet and alfalfa pellets with his in the am since he has loose teeth.

If I remember right it has rice bran in it for the fat so I don't think you would need to do that. I still throw out loose mineral 12:12 and Redmonds Salt free choice and they all get THE.

I used to feed Safechoice and wasn't unhappy with it, just wanted something a little better with lower NSC.

Wyoming, the reasons you state are the exact reasons I am looking for change. I fed the oldies Purina Senior and wasn't happy with the results, so I went to Safechoice. The results are better, but not where I want them to be. Both are mid 30s, have teeth and eat well; however, I also soak alfalfa cubes in addition to beet pulp and rice bran. I do believe that the feed contains rice bran and beet pulp. I plan on going by to take a lookie at the feed store this week. I'll need feed by Friday, so it's as good of time as any for change.

When I open a bag, it smells so fresh and good. The PrimeGlo is greener and smells like alfalfa. Just very clean smelling lol. Safechoice, while I was happy with it, is just a dry pellet. No smell really, good or bad.

They are both excellent feeds !! I have fed both. Love both .. I am really growing partial to the ADM though :) I think it's my favorite of the two if I had to choose . I feed adm seniorGLO to all of my horses .. Ages 3, 7, 18 & 23. I used go feed the TC senior .. It was great too but my 7 yr old hard keeper wasn't fond of the taste .. Soo that's what made me try the adm seniorGLO . That was the best decision :) she loves the adm.. Every horse I've seen on any of the adm feeds absolutely love it !

I'm currently in the process of switching from TC Senior to ADM SeniorGlo.
Too early to tell, but it seems very tasty...

I just started feeding ADM about a month and 1/2 ish ago. I LOVE it! I haven't really ever feed a "good" feed, just a all grain mix from COOP. I finally decided that I needed to get on a good feed and had heard about ADM so I looked more into. I really like that I wouldn't have to feed near as much and I wouldn't have to be adding all the extra stuff that I was putting in the old. I was feeding my hard keepers up to a whole supplement bucket( the bigger white ones) twice a day of grain, beet pulp and senior. I researched and thought I wanted certain horses on certain kinds of ADM. Well I found a dealer about 45 min away and went to talk to them. I am so glad I did cuz I wanted to put three horses on the PowerGlo and he said that it could make them a little hot, well 2 of 3 were already HOT lol So we decided to put them all on SeniorGlo at different rates. My old man is getting up to 5 lbs a day and the ones being rode are getting 3 and the easy keepers are getting about 2 pounds a day. Some of them are fixing to be cut back even more as they are getting too fat lol Mine all looked pretty good before I switched but now they look even better. Shiny and all. Won't be able to tell how it helps them mind wise and such for the barrel horses as one is out for a few more months with a suspensory injury and my mare almost cut her foot off the other day. But I just got a horse in to "replace" them for a while and he is on Total Equine. I am going to take before and during pictures of his journey over to ADM and see how he responds.

Anyway long story short..... I LOVE ADM and will recommend it to anyone!

I am a Triple Crown gal, but ADM is not sold in my area. From what I read, they are comparable feeds. You can't go wrong either way.

So....I get up early only to find that they don't "carry" the feed. They will order it for me, but I will have to contact them later because the guy who orders it wasn't in. Sigh...
Can someone tell me what you pay per bag? I'm not opposed to ordering ahead, but they couldn't even give me the price per bag.
The Coop the next town over carries the triple crown, so I could always go that route.

I have fed both, and really like both. Either way, you can't go wrong, they are both high quality feeds IMO. I started with Triple Crown Senior for both a 5 and 25 year old. They both looked great on it and they LOVED the taste. I decided to switch to ADM SeniorGlo because it was easier for me to get. I fed that for a while and both horses still loved it and still looked great. I then switched to ADM PrimeGlo and have stuck with that. The reason I switched to that is the ingredients and nutritional info are nearly identical to the SeniorGlo, it's just concentrated so you feed less. Mine get about 3 pounds per day along with unlimited hay.
I also add soaked beet pulp, rice bran meal and alfalfa cubes to the senior's diet because he has a hard time eating hay. The five year old looks great on it, I'm very pleased. For a while I was riding my sister's horse, so I switched him to PrimeGlo from an oat/grain mix. His topline filled out and he started to look MUCH better after only a short time, and only eating 3 pounds per day with unlimited hay.
For TC Senior, I believe I was paying around $26/bag and ADM is $25.50/bag. Since I feed so little of the PrimeGlo, it lasts longer than the senior feeds, so is more cost effective.

I cannot testify for TC feeds but I have a 16.3 (1350#) gelding and he is what I consider a hard keeper. I had him on 2lbs ADM SeniorGlo, 1 lb Renew Gold and FORCO and I was paying $63.20 exactly in feed per month. I got chincy and decided I wanted to try and spend less, so I put him on 2 lbs of beetpulp with 1 lb renew gold. It probably wasn't enough calories for him but I just didn't like the way he looked on it so I am back to the ADM program. Normally I think I would have to feed 4-5 pounds of grain to keep my horse at a good weight but with ADM I dont have to. I feed the Renew Gold mainly for an added fat source because that's what really finishes out my horse.

My horse is on pasture 24/7 and is doing good without hay.

I pay a hair bit over $20/ bag for the Senior Glo. If I had to feed much more then I would have to get a second job lol but it works out ok since I don't feed as much of this as I would other feeds. This is my 2nd "order" and I have been getting 10 bags at a time and it's been just a little of $200 (or something like that) and the 10 bags last me for 3-4 weeks and that's feeding 7 head on it.
