| Last week on Tuesday, it was pouring rain when I came to work, walked in and fell down on the cement floor - HARD - hard enough to see stars and skin up my elbow, knees plus get FILTHY from the dirty shop floor. I cleaned up in the bathroom to get a call that my dad was being taken via ambulance to the hospital - he is 84, not in good health - cancer. He was bleeding rectally and they couldn't find the cause. I ran home, turned the horses out, drove 85 miles to the hospital - he was in better shape than I expected - he had been passing out from blood loss. They tell me they won't do anything until evening when the doctor can get there - will do an upper GI to find the cause - I may as well go home. I got home and needed to take the stitches out of our old Lab - he had a tumor removed a week prior - got the stitches out - packed a bag to head back to the hospital in the morning and his wound broke open - BIG TIME - it was on his stomach and my BF and I both thought his guts were falling out (don't laugh - it really LOOKED like that). Of course, this is at 7:00 pm - go to the ER vet. they said it wasn't a BIG deal, will have to keep him, put him under and re-stitch - $1100! While he was there, they tried to PRY his mouth open for a pill - and he BIT someone! - SO, in the morning, animal control had to be called, had to verify he had all of his shots, then I was allowed to go get him AND put him in quarantine for the next 10 days. At 11:30 that night, Dad's doctor calls - with GOOD news - sort of - they went and did the upper GI and found an ulcer - very treatable. Since then, he has been moved to a care home for rehab - I am HOPING he will get to go home, but he lives by himself so he will have to improve a LOT - very weak, shaky - no balance. At least he is happy there - thank heavens - AND I took the Lab back to the regular vet for the removal of the 2nd set of stitches and he is on the mend too!! - Sorry for the book - just felt like sharing what's been going on in my life! |

| Thanks guys!! It DID get better! Dad is in a nursing home on the mend - and happy to be there - he actually asked to go there! Animal Control came out and laughed about our "mean" dog so he is off the hook with the "law!" - LOL. AND I bought a new horse yesterday! So things are going so much better! |
