I have been researching this cuz my horse was just diagnosed with intermitant fixation. Not real bad though. Seems to have gotten noticable since I have been off him the past month for another issue. I am going to try just getting him back into good shape and hope that makes it quit. But in my research, I read that Esterone can make them VERY hormonal i.e. crabby, not nice to be around, etc. And I read that you definately DON'T want to give it to a mare. I have no personal experience with it, but just what I have read. My vet suggested trying an internal blister if/when I think we need to do something. Please post if you decide to try something as I will be interested to know the outcome. Thanks

I tried it on a horse I had a few years back. I did not see any difference what so ever. The only thing that ever seemed to work for him was consistent exercise. I sold him before we tried the blistering, but that was next on the list.

We used Estrone with much success too... and on a mare. No moody symptoms and our mare seemed ok.

Of course on vet says ECP...another Esterone. They are 2 totally different things....I'm researching both..hearing good about both...and no side effects so far..not sure which one to go with....Maybe I should repost the question about ECO..since it seems to be used more commonly..!!
