I know 1/2 in pads are what Brian Peterson says work best as far as thickness so im wondering which brand and type seems to work the best for everyone riding crown c saddles. I currently have Wade pads but wondering about the Biofit air ride pads and i know BHW is all about 5 star pads. I have one already. Im looking for different brands to look at. Thanks!

I have two Crown Cs, one for each horse, and one of them I ride with a CSI pad (my new fav) and my other gets ridden with the Classic Equine Zone pad.

The CSI is the 1/2 pad plus the protective top part and the Zone is a 3/4 inch I think plus the felt top...its about an inch.

I'm gonna sound like a broken record.... but I can't shy away from the 5 Star.

I collect different thicknesses as I'm going thru my gullet journey.  Brian says 5 Stars are the best way to go... and if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I like the CorrecTor and CSI pads with my Crown C, depending on what I need for each horse.  The CorrecTor is easy to shim.

My daughter has 2 crown c's. Her gelding a saddle rite pad works best and her mare a csi pad works best. She was using a 5 star on the mare and shimming but the csi worked for her much better.

I use a Classic Equine ESP pad with built in shims.  I ordered it a little longer than a regular saddle pad, I think it's 36", because my Crown C has a larger skirt on it.

I thought pads that have inserts, build ups are a no no for crown cs since you have to check the fit daily? I know i adjust my shims alot so im wanting a true 1/2 inch pad with no built in shims so i can adjust it correctly.  Are any of the pads mentioned like that besides saddle right?

Love my Crown C saddle ,as far as pads I think it depends on the horse's withers . On a low withered horse I like it with a 1/2 inch felt pad (esp or zone or just felt by classic ) but on a high withered horse I like it thicker 1 inch (sensor flex pad or the sensor flex  that is felt on top ,fleece on bottom  by classic  . Good Luck to ya.

5 Star has a true 1/2 pad. It is softer than the saddleright.

Crown C's are intended to be shimmed. The ESP pads that have built in shims are ok, and the ones with a wool top flip back so you can add shims without seeing them.

Which pads have a wool top that you can flip back to hide shims?

I just took a picture of mine, I bought it from Diamond N Western World when I bought my Crown C. If it does not post I'll attach a link to a pic of it on facebook.

Thank you!

Here it is...I hope LOL

The wool top goes back to about 1/3 of the pad and the rest is attached to the felt botton which is 1/2" thick.
