| Do y'all still feed fast track or forco if your feeding a fed that has probiotics and probiotics already added? I'm feeding 1/2 lb of nutreba empower as a supplement daily and was wondering if forco was still needed? |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | I would as most of the feeds don't put enough in their feeds they do it more for marketing just like adding beet pulp to feeds. The amounts are minimal.
I'm sure you meant probiotics and prebiotics. |

Isn't Empower a fat supplement? I wasn't aware it was a pro/prebiotic. Also from the explanation I got from the distributor, Forco isn't actully a probiotic either, it was described to me as a gut conditioner (what the difference is, I have no idea) but that is what was told to me when I asked if it was a probiotic. |

FORCO is a prebiotic. This is how the company describes it.
FORCO® Feed Supplement Digestive Fortifier is a source of nutrients that feed and nurture the entire scope of bacterial and microbial populations in the full spectrum of the digestive system. The FORCO formula helps to bring a horse’s digestive system to full performance. Hay, grain, vitamins, and mineral supplements can now be broken down into a form that can be absorbed into the blood stream of the horse, thus, providing maximum nutrition to every microscopic cell in the horse. FORCO formula assists in producing maximum digestion for maximum nutrition! |

Location: Kentucky | I buy my FORCO from Nevertooold. I add 1 oz. twice daily to Triple Crown Senior. I don't think I'll be without FORCO in my barn. My mare used to get the poopies and have an upset belly, but FORCO has really helped her out. |

Location: Willows, CA | We typically only recommend a probiotic after surgery, high stress, or antibiotic treatment. In general, a healthy horse with a fully functioning hind gut should be able to maintain the microbial population just fine by itself. They evolved to be able to do this if we do not interfere by overloading the digestive system with more starch and sugar than the upper GI tract can handle. Because this is our goal in feeding, we generally find added probiotics of limited value on a daily basis. Prebiotics are a different matter, and we include them in Renew Gold. Supporting a healthy hind gut is very different from trying to artificially create one. We have a lot of customers that feed FORCO with Renew Gold and feel good about the result. There certainly is no conflict between the two. |

I've been taking it for years. It is food grade. I put a pinch on the back of my tongue and then flush it down with water so I don't have an exact amount but it has helped me. I use to get upset stomachs all the time and I don't anymore. It also keeps me regular, which I use to never be. |

I had no idea people could take it too. I'm seriously considering this! I suffer from IBS.... even though doctors have no idea what is really wrong with me.... IBS is the easiest way for me to explain it. |

It's not on their website as they would have to do all kinds of FDA clearing.
It is food grade. I know quite a few people that take it. All you can do is give it a try. I know people that take from 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon a day. Like I said..I don't measure and sometimes will take it more then once a day if I'm having a problem. |

I think I am going to try this. I have so much trouble with my stomach due to low thyroid, as long as I dont get fat and shiney it will be great!! |

| Some of us were just discussing this over the weekend. Doesn't one of these (pre or pro) have to be refrigerated and be the "live" product to really work? So how do these daily powders, pellets, etc work? |

Live Probiotics have to be refrigerated.
The prebiotics feed the good bacteria and keep the gut flora balanced so the digestive system can work to the best it can according to your animals genetics. FORCO does one job and one job only. |

I have a few customers that have gone over to the pellets and they like them. I was told that it takes some horses a little time before the horses readily eat the pellets. The only complaint I've heard is they seem to go through product faster because of the way the pellets are to get an accurate 2 ounce dose. |

| Trying not to steal the thread but would like to learn on this topic also. So does the probiotic have to be live to be beneficial? Products like Fastrack and Oxygen have probiotics but I don't believe they are live so assuming they work somehow? |

Fastrak has live bacteria. I know nothing about Oxygen's products. You should be able to google to find out if there's are live. |
