Absolutely love my pozzi pro saddle, the way I ride in it and and how it fits both my horses but super disappointed in part of the workmanship! Only had my saddle for 2 months(got it from a friend who purchased it in march so it's only 4 months old) and this happened to the horn during a run. Called double j and they told me I had to of dropped it or hit it to cause it. I put it on my horse, warmed her up and made a run and that's it! They couldn't tell me if it would be covered by warranty without shipping it to them. I'm in Washington and it's truly not feasible to send it down there and be without a saddle as I ride almost everyday and it's my only saddle that fits me and my horses (can't afford 2 with the cost of them and my only other saddle is a trophy saddle that fits nothing!) My local saddle maker is going to fix it but it's so frustrating to pay good money and have things like this happen. And I know these things happen I guess I was just hoping for a little bit more by buying a higher end saddle

You making a run did that to the horn?

I'm sorry but my husband is a saddle maker and that horn cap did NOT just "fall apart"........the leather has been ripped.....Tell me "how" the scuffs got on the top piece. It has been scraped against something which more than likely started the tearing underneath. I will tell you that from the looks of the horn cap it would NOT be covered under warranty........

Now, that being said, did they use a poor quality leather? More than likely......

They Are a production saddle. And don't use the best leather for the price imo

Your right the leather is ripped. Took it to my saddle guy and he started taking it apart and the leather is so incredibly thin! The scuff marks are from me putting it on and taking it off. It has never been abused or dropped or anything like that. There is actually 3 layers of leather there. One is the top piece, the middle is just a filler piece and the bottom is so thin that he was able to rip it by hand! He looked at it and said the scuff marks wouldn't cause it to rip. I ride 2 horses almost every day and I think it should hold up to that amount of use. It has only ever been on the saddle rack in my trailer

I wanted it fixed without costing me a fortune. Shipping, labor, etc. I guess maybe I'm a little old fashion but I work in customer service and I think the customer should come first! I get I didn't buy it directly but that said there is no denying that it came from them and is only 4 months old. I have already taken it to be fixed and even my local saddle guy said if he made something and this happened within a short time span he would fix it regardless of who owned it.

I have saddled a whole LOT of horses....and never did I scuff the top of the horn cap like that......just saying......But I do agree with you. If my husband had made the saddle and something happened, he would probably "try" to make it right.....That being said, looking at the pictures a big company is NOT going to pay shipping back and forth and fix it....Are you sure the "previous" owner didn't have an accident with it? Why did they sell it after only two months?

My bad. I read your post wrong. I thought you were saying you wanted them to fix it but didn't want to send it to them because you didn't have another saddle.

Gosh you must have a iron grip to beable to do this. LOL... I have 4 custom Double J's and have bought really used ones to and never had a problem with the horn cap coming off this way. Did you send pictures of the saddle to Double J before your saddle fixer upper guy torn it even more? I bet they would have wanted to see it after it was freashly done.

I've ridden in dozens of double j saddles for the last 20 years and have never had that happen

Looks to me that the saddle has been caught on something, maybe being putting up on a saddle rack in a trailer, or set on the ground alot, with those types of scuffs.  Could have started before you even got it.

It truly has never been dropped, set on the ground or had any mishandling. I love it just disappointed thus happened to such a new saddle. This is a picture taken after it happened. Nothing happened to it before I bought it. It was to wide for my friend's horse. My guess is it is a weak piece of leather. My best guess for the scuff marks is that i have long fingernails and I may have scratched it? Would I buy another? Most definitely as I love everything about it! And nope I've never been to double j! And do you think if I had caused the damage that I would have complained? Nope not at all! I'm not that kind of person; ) Just was curious if anyone had ever seem anything like this as I never have and I've owned my fair share of saddles!

You need to look at your saddle rack and your trailer. even under the swells has scuff marks on it. I see the horn has been rubbed on. Doesnt look like finger nail damage.

I was not asking you if you have ever been to Double J I was asking Heidiinaz, she thinks these saddles are a production. They are not I have been to Double J many times and I have seen theses saddles being made. I saw mine being made from the tree up

On the flip side, my old trailer was notorious for dumping saddles off nose first and I've had my share of dented and skinned up horns because of it. Never has one come apart like that.

Well I've had my trailer for over 10 years and have never had this happen because of it. Obviously this doesn't or hasn't happened to anyone. Thanks for all the help and I'm excited for my guy to fix it! Guess I was looking for a little more info and not being told that I dropped it or did anything to it. I'll be sure to post pics of it when it's fixed! I'm not knocking double j as I have said I love my saddle and would probably buy another. Have a good night all

Right! I've seen many saddles set on the ground, dropped and even flipped over on and still the horn in one piece. I think a saddle should survive a few scuff marks!
