Location: DUMPING CATS AND PIGS IN TEXAS :) | What would you like to see this horse able to do by the beginning of their 3 year old year? What are things that would catch your attention about this horse at a sale, like the LG Pro Classic Sale? Any and all thoughts appreciated :) |

Location: Midwest | I'd like one saddle broke (wtc), loads, stands nicely for vet/farrier, clips, ties, and is overall quiet. It's a nice plus if they have been exhibitioned or hauled to barrel races to see the sights.
I'd even buy one that wasn't broke or really green if I liked the horse and the pedigree.
I've never been to a sale but this is my general "likes" for a 3 yo so take this for what you will lol |

Location: Wearing a winter coat...... | It depends. If I am buying one for futurity purposes then I want them slow loping or trotting around a set. Nothing fancy just correct. Broke nice and correct also. Now if I am buying one without wanting to futurity it then I am flexible. Heck, I have a 3 year old just getting broke now...... I do think if you want to get the most money at the bigger sales then having them started good is a plus. They will be in with a whole slew of prospects who are doing that so you don't want them out classed :) |

I would want one giving to pressue. Breaking at the poll and moving off my legs. Trotting the barrels is a plus to a lot of people I think.
I would also want them to be balanced. As in can lope a circle without scrambling, can bend when asked, isn't bracy. |

Location: In a happy place | I kind of just did. I bought a 3 year old that was in the BBR sale this spring. He didn't bring what they wanted and so they took him home. I bought him the next day. He is what the other people have listed. Ties, loads, rides good in the trailer, can handle his feet easily, he loves a bath and drinks out of the water hose while taking his shower, will come running to me when I call him from the pasture and oh he eats real well too lol. They had hauled him to a few places away from home. He can lope a nice smooth pattern and has a nice handle. Just fyi I would buy another from these people any day. Should I have bought him? Probably not but he is the first thing I have see that wasn't priced over the moon that I have liked in probably 6 or 7 years. Just didn't feel like I could pass him up. |

I guess it depends on when the colt was started.
The horse could very well have nearly a year understand saddle and if so id expect it to be pretty far along, but if its only got 30-60 day juist basic walk trot lope stop. Regardless i would expect a nice calm managible horse, willing and one that appears to like what they are doing with a go getter type additude.
At sales (ive never been to barrel one but lots of cutting / cowhorse) I like to go early walk around the stalls, watch my picks get saddled and warmed up. I think behind the barn tells you nor about the horse than the sale preformance |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I want one that moves forward willingly, in a balanced manner and stops the same way. Soft in the bridle without dropping behind the bit or overbending. Knows to move away from leg pressure. The beginnings of lateral movements are a plus. That's where my young mare was after 60 days as a 3 year old and is my favorite point to take over their training. I prefer to do the refining and installing of more advanced movements in addition to starting the pattern myself. |
