Location: Mississippi | It is too far in his mouth? I am usually told my headstall is too loose with other bits so I put this one tighter than I normally would - I just don't want him to be uncomfortable - I rode him in it and he does fine but want to make sure. Of course if there is anything else wrong with this pic please let me know - the bit was a little confusing as to which way was which . Working on getting another curb this was the only one I had although I don't think a curb is needed with this bit I feel more comfortable with one as he is a little on the hard side to stop.

| I agree that it looks a tad tight.
And.....what kind of bit is that and what is the purpose? It's definitely interesting. |

| It looks like a home made bit which I'm fine with but I'm thinking that they put the mouthpiece on the wrong side of the ring. I have one close to that but the mouth piece slides on the ring for a gag action. |

Besides being too tight, is it on correctly? It looks "inside out". |

| If you put 2 fingers between the bridle and the the horse's face, its usually a good place to start. |

Β It would be impossible to put it on inside out. Upside sown, yes. This one looks like it's on correctly. Thanks for the info, slowpoke! |

Location: Mississippi | I will check as to whether it may be "inside out". This bit came from the horse's previous trainer/owner and is what he was running him in .
I had switched him to a little stronger bit when I first got him because he is strong and I was intimidated by him. Now that we are getting together I feel that I am able to run him in this.

Is it like a dogbone?
