Just curious about people's opinions on futurities. I have a few mares bred to some nice stallions and have some interest in having a futurity horse, but want to do right by the horse. I know every situation is different, but am getting some negative feedback. I don't want to ruin my horse's health by doing them, but just unsure.

I think there are a lot more horses than people think that ran futurities, stayed sound, and still run today… A lot of times with my friends, I will be researching a horse I am interested in and incidentally find their horse in old futurity results from 6-10 years ago.

As long as you keep the horse first, and do right by the horse, you should be fine. If the horse starts telling you- I can't do this, or something hurts, then listen and back off.

people also dont realize that if a horse disapears after the futurity year that doesnt mean that it ended up cripled.... it may have been sold to brizil or to an ammy rider... or to a rodeo person who has  no intrest in going to the nfr... or maybe that horse has more value in the breedingbarn than being ran..... yes some dont make it past because or injury but hey some horses dont make it past being broke because they get hurt..
