| This is the 13th saddle I have had on my horse's back (or something ridiculous like that!) I am still have problems. I had been using an equipedic pad on him with shims to get it up off his shoulder, I hate the equipedic pad but any other pad doesn't get it up off his shoulder enough. I've only ridden in it a few times. When I mount up he wants to go go go, yanks on the reins, sometimes humps up a bit (which is actually an improvement from his bucking). It lasts for 10-20 minutes tops and then he is just happy to work. I'd think he was cold backed, but he does not to any of this when I ride him bareback. He has a perfectly even sweat pattern after I've ridden him and he feels like he is moving out freely. I've had the chiro out and last visit she found nothing going on with his back.
So anyways can I get some thoughts on this saddle please? I took some pictures down the gullet so you can see the gaps where I was shimming the saddle. He has some muscle atrophy still from when I bought him, his back was a LOT worse.

| Just a few of his back. Its hard to see in the pics how big the hollows are, why I have the one with my hand in it.

| I will be curious about the responses because my guy has those shoulders and everything hits the back of his scapula. I have to shim the heck out of it but I'm looking at saddles too. |

| Yes I have talked to WimpyB, she felt her saddle would have too much rock for him, and the newer tree might be too wide on him.
ETA: I didn't have her take a look at this saddle. At the time I had a crates (not the meleta brown), but it was too narrow for him and pinching is shoulder and had too much curve to the tree.

Location: In a happy place | My gosh. You must really have a problem. I'm sorry I can only imagine how frustrating that is. Maybe you should try to talk to Charon Caldwell and see what she says. Past that I have no idea. |

| I really do have a problem lol! He is soo overly sensitive about everything too, not just in the saddle. If hes not facing a certain way in the aisle when the farrier does him, he is a monster! I had been trail riding in this saddle a few weeks ago and he was being just fine, rode for about an hour and half and I got gotten of him. When I went to mount again my saddle tipped just a bit (why I hate the equipedic pad), I just shifted it back straight again mounted and he would have nothing of that! I had to get off and take the saddle off and put it back on and he was fine when I mounted back up again. My husband said I ruffled his feathers! |

| I'm looking into The FX3 Martin saddle. Did you see that? Like the crown C but sits you a little different and it will go behind those big shoulders. I just emailed Equibrand to get more info. |

| No I haven't tried the CSI pad on him. I haven't looked into the FX3. I can't afford a brand new saddle, so its probably out of the question right now. I had martin ironhorse that was okay, it was pinching his shoulders a bit but at the time he had worse muscle atrophy and I never tried shimming it, so who knows it could have worked. I took some pictures of the saddle with the pad I am using and with the shims in it. I hopped on him and took him for a ride around the farm and he didn't pull his usual shenanigans. Maybe I just have a bipolar horse
I put a pic of the shims I used too, its just 3 pieces of wool that I cut to fill the gaps, I put them inside the pad on top of the inserts so they don't shift.

Location: North Dakota | Its not your saddle! I owned a horse that was cold backed, he was fine without a saddle! He was checked ALL over and it was nothing wrong with him just attitude! He knew with a saddle he was going to do more work and he didn't want to work! He was tried in multiple events, even just trails so it was not barrel racing that bothered him. He didn't like blankets on his back either, was fine only with rider. |

| Have you tried a Biofit pad? My new saddle doesn't fit my horse either and I talked to WimpyB about it as well. I don't have the $$ to buy another one unless I sell this one and I can't be without a saddle for the summer. Tried a Biofit pad as they are built up over each side, hard to see in this picture but it's there. While it doesn't complete correct my saddle fit, it does help a lot. Something to look into. Good luck

| I have the biofit. It seems like the shims are too forward. If I back up the pad it works great. Its a great pad and I have had it for a long time. Right now I'm using a 5 star with one of those wither pads that you can buy for 18 bucks. Its working great also. |

Location: Nebraska | What about an Ed Wright pad with the extra? The padding sits a little different than the Classic Equine one, I think. Also, have you tried a Lynn McKenzie Special on him? My mare is built a little similar and that's all I can find to fit her. |

Location: Where Governor's make the liscense plates | I too think it's just his attitude, maybe he doesn't care for the saddle or had one make him sore previously. Lots of wet saddle pads he'll get over it. And if he's not coming up sore it's obviously his attitude. Horses were ridden for years without correct fitting saddles, chiropractors, and fancy shoes etc. They didn't complain they weighed through it. I too would do anything for my guy and he gets chiropractic work and fitting saddles but your guy had you fooled I think |

Location: North Dakota | I think this saddle looks fine BUT I too would advise you to try a CSI pad, they are awesome! They also have shims you can buy that you can place where needed. They are expensive but worth every penny IMO. |

Location: ARKANSAS | i too went through a million saddles before i finally the just b natural saddles by circle Y. they are a treeless saddle but ride like a treed saddle to you but like a treeless to the horse. they are extremely comfortable and are nothing like the bob marshals or other treeless saddles you may be familiar with. I have the wide and it fits my Mutton backed horse with no withers and he is WIDE to my narrow backed young horse...i LOVE these saddles and i have yet for them to make my horses back sore..i ride these saddles with an impact gel pad, the ones that are navajo on top and fleece lined on bottom, and i have never had one to slip or roll on my horse either. LOVE THEM!! I own 2 of them!! |
