| That is the best thing to do. I had my mind set on a rough out with dots, but found a good deal on a fully tooled and really like it. Glad I didn't get the rough out think they don't look as good when they get used ( or I prob wouldn't know how to clean it right ) |

Location: GA | I love fully tooled, I think I may go with the 7/8 tooled though. It's hard to envision what a painted background might look like, if its worth the price, different color seats with leather colors, etc. Question---- if you have a chocolate leather color saddle, do you find that it is hard to find breastcollars/headstalls in a leather to match that saddle leather color? |

| Here is my new one! I ordered 7/8th tooled, but the lady ordered the wrong one so I ended up with half tooled, yet she still charged me full price even though I know roughout is cheaper. :(
ETA: I haven't had an issue with finding other tack to match, and I can always oil it darker.

| I personally don't like fully tooled unless it's on a stand in my living room. Rough out gives you grip- I'd go for a half tooled- |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I had a half breed chocolate with an oil tan seat and dots. Gorgeous and LOVED that seat. I traded it for one of the ugly roughout ones. And I mean this dude is ugly, but it works for my horse, so oh well. I have a pretty roughout in chocolate, so I think it depends on leather color. The ugly one is kind of a medium brown color, I don't know which color it actually is. Will add some pics in a sec.

Location: Oklahoma | Here is mine. I did not order it, I just bought it used because it was the right gullet and seat size for me and I probably won't have it but for another month or so. I like the dots and the elephant in the seat, but once I know that my gelding is done filling out I will order a 7/8th tooling with full elephant seat (love, love, love that seat) in a darker color that looks better on my (should be and will be next summer) black gelding. I plan on trying to get some Rodeo Drive conchos and see if Martin can put those on it and then have a matching tack set.

Location: Stillwater, OK | I know it isn't a Crown C, but it's an FX3 Racer by Martin. But if you're looking for options, these are just some that Martin offers that you have to ask for specifically.

| I have one with the elephant inlay seat that is tooled and another that is roughout. I like the roughout better. Roughout is not slick, and frankly there's nothing prettier than a chocolate roughout. Found out one really important thing this summer. Roughout saddles are comfy in shorts. Tooled rub your calves raw. And yes, when it's 110 degrees I ride in shorts! |
