Location: Four Corners Colorado | So the time has come! I cannot hoard all of my stallion's colts and I have to write an ad! Oh the horror!
What are some tips for advertising a weanling? I've never sold a weanling and I don't know where to start. I plan on listing him here and where else should I list him? It is important to me that he goes to a competition home. I start to place an ad and get to the description and my mind goes blank. What do you want to know when buying a weanling especially one without "name brand" genetics. He has good lines I know why I bred him and if he was a she, he wouldn't be for sale.

I have the best luck here and then Dreamhorse 2nd. Just take good pictures, tell the weanlings eligibilities, maybe a bit about the sire and dam and what they have produced to date. Maybe the height you guesstimate him to be-sire and dam heigth. Halter broke, loads, stands tied etc. Maybe a vaccine record/deworming.
As for the competition home, GOOD LUCK. I have raised 50+ foals out of my stallion, got a handful into good homes and either a pregnancy comes up, change of career, divorce etc. Most I proved myself (that is the easiest, sure fire way) and a lot went to great homes where I think they will make some local barrel races. I am honestly just happy when they go to a home that loves them and sends me updates and pictures.
Unless you are selling own sons daughters of the big names, it will be unlikely they get in top trainers hands right now. It sounds like you might just be starting out if you are just now selling some. |

| Make sure you say your horse has "great conformation," not "great confirmation." |

please don't put that it is FOR sale not ON sale. I'm getting to hate the sound of those ads. |

| I suggest spending the money and getting professional photos, or make sure horse is standing square on flat ground. And clean.
Also take pictures with a nice fitting halter. |
