Location: Texas | It's South Texas and too close to the border for me. It's about 85 miles north of Laredo on I-35. |

| It's not that bad compared to the border towns. It doesn't have much for services, but Pearsall is close and has Tractor Supply and WalMart (so obviously civilization, ha ha ha!). Dilleys locals are really wonderful people, I've always had great experiences with the local businesses.
As far as barrel racing, there's not much, but San Antonio is right up the interstate. Overall, compared to it's neighbors, it's a piece of cake. Plus, it's starting to cool down, winters in south Texas are addicting.
I've worked through and around Dilley for the last four years. I can recommend Garcias for food, and Dilley Lube and Tire for obviously stated reasons, and the feedstore usually has your basic needs.
You'll be fine if you go with an open mind. Do keep your head up for the advertised illegal immigrant problems. I treat them like rattlesnakes: you know they're there, and you try to see them and avoid them before they are a danger to you. |

Location: Golden Gulf Coast of Texas | Ugh!! It's the Texas outback. I lived further south outside Cotulla. Me and two friends used to load up a cattle trailer with horses twice a week and head for San Antonio. There is nothing down there but like the others said it's not too far from SA.
