| What trainers have the most success with horses that they send on for the common folk to ride? I have a very amazing colt that I'm seriously considering sending to a big name trainer, but I'd like to find one that doesn't ride so specialized it might be a hard act to follow? Any thoughts? |

Location: lone star state | Find one whose style you like and can follow and understand. Go watch or get video of finals and really watch the riders and contact several that you like. Go visit their barn and go with the one that YOU like best. |

| I've also recently picked up two really nice colts and have been thinking about sending them to a "good" trainer, so I'm interested to read the feedback. Bump! |

| My advice from personal experience .... Watch them ride, A LOT. If you have the chance to step on one of their finished horses, DO IT. That will tell you if you can ride after them.
It is kind of a conundrum shopping for a trainer online ... you can watch rides and talk to people all you want, but until you step on one of their horses you won't for sure have an idea if YOU can ride after them.
Just some things to consider :) |

Location: Oklahoma | Also look at how many people they have "assisting" and how many horses they take. Depending on the trainer, they may not step foot on your horse until they enter the futurity. |

| I sent my mare to Todd Bergen, reining cow horse trainer in Oregon. I'm in Oregon about 15 min from him. He is spendy, but worth it. His assistants are amazing too. Yes, he has that specialty but I was hoping my mare would continue in that direction. Now, I'm doing barrels on her. He made it so I can do whatever I want with that horse and not think twice. Wouldn't trade it for sure! |

I agree and one of my friends has her up-coming stallion in training with Jolene. Lots of horses she has trained has gone on to win under other riders (including amateurs). She is a great trainer and very good with communicating with her owners & being honest - a value I find a lot of trainers are lacking. |

Location: Texas | I would say Latricia Duke fits in here pretty good. ALOT of her horses continue to have great success after they go on with different riders. I have never used her personally but man, if you just watch some of her horses they run so simply and flawless. |

Location: NE Texas | Are you wanting to futurity your horse? If so, then all of the people mentioned here would be great. If getting your colts to the futurities isn't your top priority, I think there are people who have full time jobs and don't train for a living that can do a great job for you and for less money. It just depends on what your goals for your horses are and what your expectations are as an owner that would determine who would be a good fit for you. That's the most important thing is that it's a good fit for you and your horse and someone who has a style that you are confident you can ride behind. Probably needs to be someone somewhat local IMO unless you are going to let them campaign your horse for you long term. It's much easier to pick someone's brain who lives close if you run into any obstacles or need a few pointers.

Location: Arkansas | My choice would be Liana DeWeese, i found her easy to ride behind and she has trained some great horses. My 2nd choice but i've never used her would be Ryann Pedonne. |

Location: Texas | I haven't been able to ride behind many top people, but those who I think train horses that don't require all those crazy tricks or stunts are:
Kassie Mowry
Andrea Cline
Latricia Duke
Jordan Briggs
I own a horse that Dena Kirkpatrick trained and I love her⦠but Dena doesn't train for the public anymore. I've also ridden several horses trained by Jan Powell but she isn't on the futurity scene anymore. I would send a horse to Shay Goudeau too. She doesn't travel across the country to the futurities but she hauls around Texas and consistently trains user friendly horses that win. I also have a horse that Dusky Fellers trained and I've had a lot of success riding that one. |

Yes, I have used Molli and Andrea personally and I have ridden with all 3 before. Molli and Jolene are in Purdon, tx which is 30 minutes east of Waco. Andrea is in springtown, tx which is about 1 hr west of ft worth. |

| I used Liana DeWeese to start my stallion and she is wonderful to work with. In Texas as far as someone being able to take a horse and go win on it after the fact I would say Chris Martin. I compete against a lot of his horses that are mounted with youths to pro caliber people riding behind him. That says a lot. |

I honestly have no idea. Maybe Kristi will see this and answer it.. I wouldn't hesitate to ask them personally if I had a horse to send to them but I don't and I'm not about to waste their time, I'm sure they are busy enough lol
If you watch all of Latricia's runs from ANHA you can see how effortlessly her horses work for her. It's jaw dropping to watch her ride. |
