Location: Somewhere around here | One of new horses just died on the surgery table today. It was always a small dream of mine to own a Thoroughbred and when I got the chance of it three weeks ago I literally jumped at it. She was exactly what I have been looking for all year and only three years old. We got her at a good price because she had a bone chip in her knee and we were willing to do the surgery to get the chips out and make her fully sound. This is the same filly I was contemplating on her about looking at reining and cutting studs. Me and my husband went to the vet's facility yesterday. We looked around and talked to the vet about what was going to happen in the procedure and how she should be ready to be taken home by Wednesday. Filled out the paperwork then headed back home. I got the call today at work that she died while the vet was stitching her up and he almost done. Apparently her heart was going great, no problems, but then had one irregular heartbeat then flat lined on them. I've only had one other horse of mine die but it was an older mare, more planned and had more time to prepare for the heartbreak.
So tonight I'm drowning my sorrows in ice cream and a margarita. Any suggestions on how to make this time easier? |
