Location: So. Cali. | Kind of long story short, my colt popped a thrush pocket weeks ago during a trim in his front right. I, being careless, was picking it out gruffly and caused it to bleed. This caused him to be laid up for about 6-7 weeks. First couple weeks I kept it cleaned and booted, then gradually worked out of the boot, etc. While treating the front he had a mild one show up in his back left that I treated. Finally able to get acouple weeks back on him, shoer comes Monday and he pops two more in his back left again in his frog. Back to being tender and doctored. Hes been sore over hips so I'm hoping its due to the thrush pockets working down and nothing further. So what could be causing these? No other sign of thrush in his foot until he's trimmed and these pop out in his frogs. I switch his stall regularly to keep it dry. He's barefoot and has always had good feet til now. Any similar experiences? |

Location: Dubach, LA | I am fighting this battle right now. on one foot on one horse. I can't get it to go away. I've done Clorox, iodine and peroxide, biozide with a hoof wrap and thrush buster. I've dry-lotted, stalled, and turned out. I've used a hoof boot, a diaper and duct tape, and left it open. What else can I do? |

There is this blue stuff I can't remember the name of that a lot of farriers carry that sort of chemically burns it away I think. I had one farrier that literally put something in my horses hoof and set it on fire and burn the stuff out but that was years ago.... this stuff the guy just packed in, I had a vet recommend it to me. |

| Daily soaks in Oxine for the next week or two, then once weekly soaking.
Topicals won't fizz into those pockets. You need to soak with something to really get into those pockets.

| There is this stuff called Cleantrax that will work. it is a powder that you have to put in gallon of water. then soak in a hoof boot. Jeffers Equine and Valley Vet has it. |

Location: Winging It in KY | White Lightning I used it on my horse that had White Line Disease after they cut his hoof wall off. Also works on thrush. Great product! Has to be used as a soak. I tired the CleanTrax and I did not see a difference. |

Oxine is the same thing as White Lightning, only cheaper. |
