Bellyband or Cross surcingles only?  Which do you prefer and why?

I have new one that I need to buy a turnout blanket for and I can't decide.  I found one that I really like and it comes in belly band style and the standard cross surcingle style.  I've not ever had a belly band.  So...What are you all's thoughts?

Rambo's are worth every penny spent! You can pick them up fairly reasonable on ebay if you look and buy when you see a good deal on them ($100 or so)They are TOUGH, unless of course your horse pulls them off and play tug of war then the inside will shred, but not hte outside. :

I worked at a barn where we blanketed 40-50 head. So there were all kinds of different brands/types of blankets. I am a huge fan of the belly band.

The fly sheets I have are the belly band and I have had good luck with them. However my winter blankets are the criss cross and I also have good luck with them. My horses lived in them last winter. All of my sheets/blankets are Weatherbeta.

I dunno if it was just my blanket and the way it fit. It was a weatherbeeta and my gelding always managed to pee in the belly band

However, i do like the concept of belly bands ha

I always try to buy belly bands if they are good quality, they are time savers around here and never had any problems with them.

Yeah so I have heard from several folks that geldings often can pee on the band.  Well...this little guy is an egyptian arab we have taken in just because he was cute and needed a good home.  He is small in body length...and um...well...he is a big boy in other ways.  So...I think it's a real liklihood he could easily urinate on the belly band.  So...I went with a Rambo with cross surcingles.

Thanks guys for the advice!
