 Am I really the Weirdo?
Location: Kansas | Some of you might remember my gray horse Chance and all the soreness problems we had this spring, as well as the borderline hateful comments made on a thread I posted about him. He's had a limited schedule this summer while we sorted everything out, but the last month, he has finally felt like his real self again. Still, we hadn't put together a really top notch run all year, so I was THRILLED when he clocked in the 1D Saturday at a 115-horse race despite stumbling at the second barrel. When our district NBHA got cancelled for Sunday, I decided to go ahead and run on Day 2 of the race and see if my old bay could somehow win the 4D average buckle. I knew Chance was capable of being several tenths faster than he was Saturday, but he shaved a full half second off our time and won the Sunday race with the fastest time of the weekend. There was a saddle for the 1D average winner and we took the lead for it with our run, but Saturday's winner beat us by .039 seconds so we had to "settle" for winning the jackpot and a bonus race qualifier. lol. Here is his run -- http://youtu.be/IkICPFKTRIs?list=UU3h0VmyuYbqBRUor4JBQVlA |

Location: Kansas | Thanks!! It has been a rough summer with only getting to run him a handful of times. Seemed like every 4 weeks he'd pull a shoe and miss a weekend so we never really did get our timing down until the last couple months. Which unfortunately means we'll miss making URA Finals this year but maybe next year will be better to us. I know now that when he becomes a 2D horse, we have some maintenance to do. As far as Streak goes, he has so much potential but then some days he acts like we've never worked on turning to the right. I know that's part of the process but its still maddening LOL. I'm hauling him this month to a weeknight series and hoping we get some things lined out in the process. At any rate, I love him and am so glad he's in my pasture. :) |

| Awesome job, girl! Doesn't it feel awesome when they come back so strong? My horse that I was having lameness issues with came back and made two 1D runs this past week, so it must be the week for it! Congrats on a very pretty run! |

Thank you, and yes it does!!! Matt can take some of the credit for this run because I was also #54 in the race and was cooling that horse out when I needed to be walking Chance to start his warmup, so Matt hopped on and walked him from draw 56 until 65 so I could take care of Joker. I'm still trying to get him to tell me what he did to spark that kind of a run! Glad yours is also coming back - it is a great feeling when the hard work of fixing them pays off! |

Thanks!! I knew he had started a good one at the second barrel and all I could think going to third was DON'T SCREW IT UP NOW!!!! LOL. I really needed a 16.98 to win & set my Joker and Matt's Joker up for 4D money but Chance was apparently gunning for that average saddle LOL. |

I don't know that he has more speed, but he is pretty deceptive with that long stride so when he makes a smooth run, he generally clocks. My job really is to just stay out of his way and only make small adjustments during the run, and for once, I think I actually did that yesterday. Most of all I'm glad I finally gave him the ride he needed. |

Location: Kansas | Vickie - 2014-09-15 1:45 PM Beautiful run. Is he My Designated Driver bred? Thanks!! No, Chance is registered as Harlans Dash. He is double bred Harlan on the top side and Dash for Cash/Azure Te on the bottom.
Streak (Royal Red Streaker) is a My Designated Driver son that TurnLane rescued and rehabbed. I'm training him to run barrels and having a blast because he is the happpiest horse I've ever been around. He just loves getting to do stuff and hopefully he'll turn into a fun, solid barrel horse someday.
