This is one of the few venues I have not been to in Texas.  I sent an email to BBR asking these quesitons but have not heard back from them.  There is not a place on the entry form to reserve a hook up, went to the Somervell Expos web page and it said there are only 55 hookups?  I am assuming it is first come first serve.  It is not essential for me to have a hookup, just wondering how it works there, if there are other places to plug in.  How are the stalls situated- any out door stalls that have better air flow?  I am kind of a fanatic about being sure my horses are as comfortable as possible and will travel early to be sure I can get them set up like I like.

Thanks

For me Glenrose is one of the nicest, if not the nicest arenas to run in in Texas. Everything is fully indoor including 2 warm up pens. I can't answer questions about hookups because I don't have a LQ. I have never thought it was stuffy or dusty in the barn, everything seems spacious and well ventilated. There are about 25 stalls outside under cover(like the back barn in waco) Although I feel like the indoor stalls at glenrose are much better than what I saw in Waco..

I also like glen rose but they have never had a ton of hook ups. I beleive you can call the facility itself and pre reserve and pay for a hook up. The stalls are your typical metal stall some areas have better ventilation than others. It can get stuffy in the buildings so I always bring fans. I feel like the outside stalls might have a bit more of a breeze. If you cannot get a hookup there is lots of parking to use your generator. I also enjoy running in glen rose as the ground is typically good and there is a nice center alley.

They don't have an abundace of hook-ups.  There is a pasture to the left behind the motel where you turn to go to the facility that is where a lot of people spend the weekend.  Obviously using their generators.  There are a small number of stalls that are outside just behind the arena but they are usually spoken for.  I don't think you will mind keeping your horses inside at this facility.  It is just one of the best facilities in Texas in my opinion.
I think what will seem strange to anyone that hasn't been there before is how wide the alley is and it is downhill going into the pen.  You really need to think about how you need to approach the first barrel as the wide alley kind of changes things.
I know I have said it before but I love this facility.

I love running at Glen Rose.  It's probably going to be on the deeper side and you do come down hill in a wide alley.

CC5D is having their finals in Stephenville that wknd as well.  $20,000 added cash and tons of prizes, I'm going to attempt to hit both events.  I like the stalls/hookups in Stephenville better, it's only 30-35 miles away.  IDK, might be something you want to think about.  Stephenville runs daily payouts and one big payout over the wknd.  I wish they weren't overlapping events, because I like them both.......

If they do not have hook-ups available you can go the the city park, Oakdale Park,  and camp.  Great place to stay and close to the arena.

Good thing I entered the warm up race for Bunny. My original plan was just enter the American Qualifier and make only run one… Since she handled ANHA, I think she can handle two runs. Gosh I am already nervous about it!!

Rodeomom3 I am hoping mom and Kallyn will at least take a half day on Friday and meet me in College Station on the way up there. I am hoping we pull in by 5:30 LOL.

Well,  you know me, if I don't have any blowouts I will be there early to get us stalls.  Tom said he was going to get me bigger wheels so I could get 14 ply tires that are rated for more pressure and weight.  I had a blow out going to Gonzales, on the way to Waco and on the way home.   We buy good tires too and always keep them aired up.  I think 4 horses is just to heavy a load.

If we don't trade our trailer in, my dad is going to put bigger wheels on our trailer so we can get those tires too. We are bringing three horses this time!! Lucy and Hope are going, but Bunny is the only one we are entering in the qualifier. Lucy has ran a 14 at Glen Rose before, but I think it's too much to ask of her so soon after coming back.

Love it, love it, love it! Cool and refreshing when it is hot, and warming when it is freezing outside. Indoor warmup area is nice. Study the length of the alley before you run. It is a long way in there and you'll wear your horse out running in if you're not careful.
