Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I been wanting a tattoo and finally found one I love but my dad suggested I see what the bible said first. I've read and I think it depends on how you take it. So what's everyone opionons on what the bible says about tattoos. Then there something I heard a guy on tv said that had a ton of tattoos. He said the women are beautiful the way they are and should mess there selves up with markings. I heard it years ago but it's always stuck with me.
This is what I have picked out if I do get one. Maybe not put the horse shoe though.

I think tattoos are cute when you are in your 20's, you think they are cute in your 30's and 40's, and nobody thinks they are cute after that.
I'm 22 :) |

| If you get this tattoo lose the horse shoe - it's upside down (the luck is running out of it). |

Your age is pretty obvious. Just imagine what it will look like down the road.
It will have to go somewhere like my foot or under my wrist that won't ever stretch much. No babies for me so maybe where ever I put it it won't be so bad. |

Location: Montana | I'm your age....This is my thought on it...in ten years will you still be happy with the choice you are making today? Or twenty years? Or even five years? Will you still always like having something tattooed on you, whatever it may be? They are very permanent (yes you can get them removed, but that is expensive). I'm a Bible reader, and personally I feel that tattoos are against what the Bible has to say. Maybe as an alternative, if it is something you love, have that design put on a t-shirt or something you can wear?

Some Kind Of Fun
Location: Boonies Oklahoma | First and foremost the comment about how they are cute when your in you 20s but only you think they're cute in your 30s or 40s.....always strikes a nerve with me. Kinda like the people who have their ears pierced saying your "defacing your body" because you have art on your skin. People who get tattoos don't get them for anyone but themselves. I could give a crap less if anyone thinks my tattoos are "cute" at any age they are for me not you. Each and every one has it's own meaning and is a representation of something significant. I say imo there's not anything wrong with them. I believe that your body is your shell and I like to color on mine. It's whats on the inside that matters anyway. I don't feel like any less of a Christian because I have tattoos and I would never look down on anyone because they have them. Only thing I will say to anyone wanting a tattoo is make sure that you can comfortably cover it if the need arises. Sorry if there are grammatical errors I'm on my phone |

Location: lone star state | You should put this picture in your wallet and carry it for a year. If in one year you still like it as much as you do today then get it.
As for the bible you have to decide for yourself and how you interpret it , not how the world tells you should interpret it. This subject can be twisted any way you need it so you have to read for yourself and go with your own heart. |

Location: North of where I want to be | I am well past your age. I have a daughteraround your age. I have my own relationship with God, and the fact that the Bible can be interpretted many ways. It has been modified, editted and used as a tool to influence the populas for hundreds of years. You have to make the decision for yourself based on your beliefs. That being said, a few ink pointers.....if you don't love it, if the idea of the ink you want to place on your skin doesn't keep you up at night, sit in a place inyour soul that you know you just can't live with out it....don't get it. I speak from experience. I am sleeved on one arm. my back is done & so is my lower right leg. I cannot wear a dress or shorts or short sleeves with out my tattoos being visible. Many industries & professions are not open to such displays, you will be judged by people for the placement & choice of design. You family may choose to make you the but of a few jokes, you may get pregnant and your body may change & inturn change your ink. You may have an accident that causes a scar right thru the middle of your ink. You may get this wonderful tattoo that you are going to be committed to for life & decide.....you hate it and want it gone. I am 38. I am still getting ink. I currently have a Wizard of Oz piece in the works. Tattoos never hurt, until I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, which has caused me to be very sensitive to the process now. My point in all of this, if you are uncertain...pray on it. If you decide you are doing it, take your time, make sure you LOVE it, and make sure its unique to you. Good luck |

This is the one verse I keep reading over and over βDo not cut your bodies for the dead or put tattoo marks on yourselves. I am the LORDβ (Leviticus 19:28). In my option it's means just what it says "do not mark your bodies for the dead" not trying to offend or upset anyone by any means but this makes me think of memorial tattoos. But on the other hand I read it also as "do not mark your bodies" meaning no kind of tattoo or piercing. It's too late for piercings but I don't have a tattoo yet. |

| I wanted a tattoo at one point and then decided I didn't. This past year my twin sister said we should get matching twin tattoos so we did and it's one place and one thing I don't regret. No one will see it and it has a lot of meaning to it. It says "Forever by your side" with the time I was born on me and the time she was born on her. I don't want anymore but she does. |

Location: Missouri | I love my tats. I have several - all of them mean something to me and none of which are visible unless I choose or am wearing a bikini. I was 40 when I got my first. I will be 45 tomorrow. I could care less what anyone thinks and don't feel it's a theological issue.
That said..if you have to question the decision to get one or even ask for opinions unless from a SO, I don't think you are ready for one. As for what the Bible interpretation is, I'm not going to have a theological debate verse by verse. Again if you have to question the decision, the answer is no. I personally don't think God gives a toss if I have tats and piercings (and yes I have piercings, again none readily visible). I think God is far more concerned about many other things than ink and bling. If we chose to interpret the Bible as we know it completely literally I'm sure we would all be living different lives.
I have two fave thoughts on those who criticize what someone chooses to with THEIR body... "You really don't have to tell me you don't like my tattoos. Your opinion never entered my mind when I was getting them." And for crankier moments... The 3 F's rule applies. "If you're not Feeding me, Financing me, or (editing here! ) Frolicking me, then your opinion doesn't matter". Unless you can look at it that way, my advice is DON'T. |

This is your best advice received here. You are young. You seem to be very undecided since you have to ask for opinions. Take your time and don't rush into anything that you "may" regret.....If you STILL love the design and the idea of a tattoo in 6 mo. to a year....get it......Ultimately, it is YOUR body! |

| No offense, but by telling you look in the bible for guidance on tattoos effectively stopped you from getting it for 6 mo to a yr or longer. There are so many interpretations there, you'll spend a lifetime trying to justify yourself.
If you want a tattoo, make sure it's meaningful and not something done in a drunken "let's do this" type of moment. My tattoo is of the first Shed Antler that I ever found while actually shed hunting with my husband. It not only represents the family time spent with him on something we enjoy, but it represents the amount of try I had to put in to find that booger! It was also designed by a friend who is a graphic designer from University of Iowa, so there's will also be the friendship piece and it's a One of a Kind for design and there are no 2 antlers alike!

Location: Texas | We are suppose to be like Christ in all areas of our life. I don't believe the a Bible speaks about Jesus having tattoos. Your body is the temple of Christ. I think most women have beautiful legs. There is nothing I dislike more then seeing a lady all dressed up and having tattoos on her legs ruining that beautiful picture. To each his own, but you asked for our opinions. Pray and ask God for Hia opinions, He is who matters |

| I love the design. I think it would make a really nice pendent. And since you asked for opinions on tats and the Bible, MY interpretation is that the bible says no. But, I seriously doubt getting a tattoo is going to damn you to he$$. Our differences are what makes this world so interesting. |
